ECNL moving to school year not calendar

Im sure it is somewhere in this giant thread-- is there unity amongst the youth governing boards? If ECNL adapts, will MLSN, USYS, GA etc?

If this is a mandate everyone will have to adapt. But as far as we know.
US Club, USYS, AYSO are all United. Which covers most of the youth soccer landscape.

ECNL on podcast said they are against waivers, against exceptions so August kids can find a team to play up if desired. It may not be the top team but it will be a team that aligns with their grade.

They are against bio banding they never said anything about “waivers”? To be anti all waivers is a stretch.

Biobanding is a big loophole that gives an older player legal way to beat down players 18 months younger. Has to give a applause to ECNL against biobanding abuse.

In Europe, biobanding is only used in professional club youth academy teams, not pay-to-play clubs like us.

Yes I understand what biobanding is. But they’ve never said anything about being anti waiver system. Only they are not fond of biobanding.

Yes let’s all applaud them for being the 2nd best boys academy. With MLS a mile ahead.

Congratulations on your son's finding the loophole to be able to play against 18-month-old younger kids, as he has no hope of playing in his own age group.

I think the 2nd podcast on the topic. They say kids don't want to play down, the kids that play against them don't think it is fair and they are against entire teams playing up as they think it should be in a player by player basis.

Spoke to a director about the upcoming change. He said the "repeaters" were going to cause mass chaos, especially in the younger ranks where he'd expect so many repeaters he wondered how many slots he'd have for new players.

What's a 'repeater'?

My guess are the Aug - Dec birthdays that will have to repeat whatever year they are in now.

So a 2011 current player is playing against 2012's next season if this passes?

How does that help the kid?

Who gave you the impression that any of US Soccer is to benefit the kids? Is the reveal just happening for some of you?

And some 2012's will play against 2013's. They're just wanting to push the age group dates which will always have some effect negative or positive, same as the current system.

Outside of that and recruiting, it HAS to be the angle of money somehow, just haven't figured out why.
