Options for opposing Connecticut Avenue changes?

Ninth Street is not the Connecticut Avenue arterial. But bike lanes are "paused" there in any event.

Way to miss the point.

It is an ANC. All they can do is pass resolutions and write letters. They know that, which is why they do that. They are not the Mayor, they are not a Councilmember.

Some ANC across town just announced he was leaving early and he published a letter on Twitter with all his “accomplishments” that was longer than Washington’s farewell address to the nation. Who the hell do these clowns think they are?

You seem to really dislike these people who are in unpaid volunteer positions quite a lot.

Correct. I don’t like elected officials who attempt to intimidate family and minority owned small businesses who were here before they were and will (hopefully) be here when they most certainly will (hopefully) leave.

Did you run for ANC commissioner and lose? I'm sorry, that must have been disappointing.

The majority of Ward 3 residents have the types of jobs and child raising responsibilities that do not permit them to participate in nonstop community meetings. Which was never a problem because the ANCs were once filled with long term successful residents who were retirees. Now the ANCs are filled with young militants who are not encumbered by children or serious professional responsibilities.

Yet the same people you claim have too many other committments are the same ones who dominated not just ANC3C but most of the ANCs in Ward 3 until about 10 years ago, when people woke up and saw how damaging the NIMBY view was to the housing affordability, transportation and streetscape on Wisconsin and Conneticut Avenues. Things are SO much better now.

City Ridge and Giant Cathedral Commons are fine, but what impact have they had on housing affordability or better transportation on the Wisconsin corridor?

Adding more housing mitigates the rise in rent rates for the existing buildings.

they added transportation demand management programs, captial bikeshare stations and amenities for the residents who support the businesses

The good old days, when ANC commissioners were wealthy old people with lots of spare time.

Right. People who were successful and had real world experience. Now we are left with nonprofit workers, low level politely hacks, and part time academics with thin resumes. If someone says being elected to an ANC office is “the honor of a lifetime” we definitely are not getting the best and brightest.

You are pining for the good old days when old retirees with nothing better to do with their time imposed their Boomer world view on the neighborhood and DC in general.

The ageism consistently displayed by the ANC's middle finger crowd and their Twit(ter) friends is disturbing.

In response to the ageism you expressed about the younger childless individuals who lack "experience" and are currently serving on the ANC. Stop lobbing your grenades and they won't be thrown back at you.

Millennials and Boomers are the same. The two most narcissistic generations in history.

I actually moved to this area because I love the mix of apartments and single family homes. Can't we respect both types of housing? The ANC is a mess though. They blindly follow the Trumper, don't understand any nuance, and think they're changing the world. They're not. How are those bike lanes working out? You can pass resolutions but you need to sweat the details.

I dislike it when these unpaid volunteers -- most of whom run opposed or receive support from an infinitesimally small portion of the electorate -- suddenly decide to stop listening to their constituents and simply do whatever GGW tells them to do.

If you ran and won, then you would demonstrate that your world view is more popular, but where you are failing is that you probably live in a single family home, and some of the ANC commissioners you deride live in buildings on Connecticut Avenue. You need to understand that 80% of the people in ANC3C live in the buildings on Connecticut Avenue and 20% live in single family homes, so you have a bias with your neighbors of sharing the "popular view" when in fact, you are deep in the minority view.

What method are you using to quantify the views held by people occupying buildings on Connecticut Avenue?

Yes, this. Public input is increasingly pointless as they have no intention of considering any points of view or suggestions that vary from their predetermined position. They only allow commentary because permitting questions/comments is required, but they are just biding their time until it's over so they can get on with the vote. The one commissioner who doesn't just blindly fall into line is spitting into the wind, but I appreciate that he keeps advocating for deeper consideration of all perspectives.

The comments they receive are public record. Have you considered FOIAing those instead of rage-posting on DCUM?

I don’t need to obtain the comments through an FOIA request because I’m attending the meetings and hearing them directly. Curious what part of the above you consider raging vs. observation?

The fact that the pro-bike lane ANC candidates won. More than once, over several cycles.
The fact that Frumin outpolled his opponent in the CT Ave corridor as compared to other parts of the ward, where it was a proxy.

Might want to also consider that ANC commissioners, like Council members, get voted into office on by locals, not commuters. Angry commuters wanting 8 lane roads into DC are never going to come ahead of locals. You don't pay taxes, you don't vote here.

It seems to have been a motivating factor for the unsuccessful ANC candidate who now pulls the puppet strings for the ANC lockstep majority.

They are referring to a very popular in the anti-bike lane circle conspiracy theory about a local to CP resident who is fairly active in the "smart growth" advocacy. The their conspiracy extended to some super fringe areas like gerrymandering of anc districts and all kinda nutso stuff. So I wouldn't put too much water in it.

The Connecticut Ave corridor has been packed with housing voucher recipients. Many of which are terrorizing their neighbors. The other candidate wanted to end this program and he paid a price in those precincts. This was not a bike lane referendum.
