Anyone watched Top of the Lake on Netflix?

I recently watched the Top of the Lake series on Netflix starring Elisabeth Moss. It's crime mystery, very dark with a pretty harsh story line/plot. But it's really good, Elisabeth Moss is great in it and it's filmed in a really beautiful area of New Zealand.

Anyway, anyone else seen it? What'd you think?

Yes, so good, so disturbing, thought about it for days after.

Don't want to give any spoilers but I hated the ending.

I don't understand why Netflix would take over The Killing to only do one season? The male lead did an amazing job with his character. Wish Linden would buy some chapstick.

I think they wanted to give the series a final year b/c they at least wanted to tie up the cliff hanger of season 3. Holder is pretty awesome. I know they wrote Linden's character the way that they did, but I thought she was such a jerk, especially to her kid. I'm not sure if I'll be able to separate the actress from how much I dislike Linden.

And I agree with you about the chap stick BTW. I think much of the time the porcelain cream make up they must have had to use on her skin was bleeding on to her lips. It just made her look more corpse like. Overall I was very thankful for a representation of a woman cop who wasn't dressed to the nines, wearing a ton a make up or 4 inch heels.

I saw her in a promo for some other movie and she's wearing make up and a really bold lip color. Shocking to see the difference.

If you liked that I would recommend the Bridge. Johno from Top of the Lake is in it and nearly unrecognizable.

OP here, thanks for the recommendation for the Bridge. I'll try that. I'm also a Killing fan. Any other recs?

Is there a way you can say what you hated about it without giving it away to others? Because I loved the ending and can't imagine it any better.

She was great in World War Z.

I liked Top of the Lake, but it really reinforced how annoying I find Holly Hunter. And how much I want to visit New Zealand.

I couldn't make it more than 2 episodes into The Killing, but I really liked The Fall.

Broadchurch for those who like The Killing and Top of the Lake.

New poster. Top of the Lake fell apart after the first two episodes. It really, really disintegrated.
