photographer recommendations

any recommendations for a fairly inexpensive photographer to take some pictures of my son (as a birthday present for my mom!) and maybe a few of me to use for work (conference programs, etc.). thanks. i've never looked for a photographer before.

we used Kathlees Gailhouse for our DD's first pictures. I am not sure what your range is in terms of $$. But I bet Sears and JCPenney would be cheaper.

I recently used JC Penney's at the Columbia mall and the photos were/are amazing - we definitely had a gifted photographer. You can go online and get coupons so that you pay like around $4 per 8x10 sheet (or 5x7 with some wallets). There is also a sitting fee, but I've always found coupons that waived the fee.

We have used Portrait Innovations for all of our major milestone photos. If you can focus on what you want, you can get one pose for $9.95 and get a 10x13, several 8x10s, 5x7s, 3x5s and a ton of wallets. You can order other poses (and believe me they encourage you to do it). But if you stay focused on what you want, we've been very happy with the quality of the photos, the time it takes to get them (within 30 minutes usually) and the photographers are very experienced with young children, multiple children, etc.

I would recommend Labor of Love Photography. Stacy is fabulous. She will come to your home, or meet you at any other location you like. She is based in Silver Spring. You also receive a CD with all of your pictures in color and black and white. You can take the CD to where ever you choose to get prints. ( you can also order prints from her website).
