Where to find cute, functional dresses

Anonymous
I was at a bakery yesterday, and the young man behind a counter was being so friendly and helpful, unlike the couple times I had gone before. I was wondering what was going on, then I realized, I looked different! Before I was wearing my SAHM uniform of T-shirt and shorts, yesterday I had decided to put on a dress and a cute hat for some reason.

Above episode sort of makes me want to overhaul my wardrobe and buy some cute but functional dresses (I have 3 year old and a 1 year old). I am 5'2" and 130 lbs. Most of my weight is on my stomache and thigh, so I can't wear any ol' cotton/jersey dress from Old Navy and look good - the dresses need to be A-line, perhaps with a high waist. Any ideas which brand I should try? Thanks!

I just found a bunch of cute sundresses at Marshalls and TJ Maxx. They are by a brand called "Lola" (never heard of it before!) and were located in the "Active wear" section instead of the dress section.

They were only $24.99 each and I think they are very cute and flattering.

They remind me in style of these by PrAna

Many dresses at modcloth.com. Read details and reviews carefully. Best source I've found for dresses with pockets, my mother necessity.

Boden, but they are a little pricey. Only buy on sale.

Yes, Boden. Maybe Lands End?

I wore a dress from Target on Friday and got so many compliments. Marshalls usually has a decent selection and Lord and Taylor is my go to for nicer things (although you can get some amazing deals in the sale section). I think wearing dresses is so much easier because it is only one piece...no need to find multiple things!

Ha. I thought you were going to say all the added attention was because your blouse came unbuttoned.

Lands end, Macy's INC and Athleta are the dresses I get the most compliments on

Lambs end is my go-to for mommy dresses. They hold up very well and they have many styles that are flattering on my pear shape.

I love your typo. Wool from a lamb's butt makes the best clothes!

I remember getting a ton of attention at the beginning of my pg with ds. My boobs were huge and I was losing weight from morning sickness. It was an interesting few weeks!
