And the doc. used his own gun to do it.
http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/07/24/shooting-wellness-center/13113555/ That's what you can do when you have a gun, stay and stop the violence from doing even more damage. This is a case of a good guy with a gun stopping a bad guy with a gun. The unarmed worker who came to see what the commotion was immediately left and called 911. I wonder how many more people would have been shot if this doc didn't have a gun. I've heard much talk that this hospital has a policy that only on-duty police officers are allowed to have guns on the premisis. It will be interesting to see if he faces disciplinary action. |
Oh look, someone used a personal handgun to defend himself.
Boy Howdy, that TOTALLY outweighs the dozens (hundreds?) of firearms death by accident, suicide and as a result of domestic violence that occur for each legitimate use of a firearm in self-defense in this country every year. Yep. Totally. |
+1 It is SO ridiculous how gun activists seriously believe that ONE positive story about privately owned guns makes up for thousands of negative ones...but then again they also think privately owned guns are a good idea, so I guess it makes sense they got it all backwards ![]() |
This is actually one issue that I am conflicted about. On one end, I totally understand the right of citizens to bear arms and some of the arguments make total sense to me. On the other, gun violence is so prominent in our society that i don't know what to think. It is really a tough one! |
It's probably worth pointing out that according to the article, the shooter was actually stopped by two unarmed people that tackled him. "Another doctor and caseworker tackled Plotts in a hallway and held him until police arrived." The good guy with a gun didn't actually stop the bad guy with a gun. |
In news so common as to be unremarkable, here are a few of the "accidental child shooting" headlines:

They tackled him after he was shot. |
Pregnant woman killed while admiring friend's handgun collection. Apparently a .22 discharged, hitting her in the head. They tried to save the baby, but the baby died as well.
http://www.nbcmiami.com/news/local/Pregnant-Florida-Woman-Killed-While-Admiring-Gun-Collection-268795481.html You can't make this stuff up. In a war of anecdotes, gun control wins every time. |
Jeff's reading comprehension has been suffering for some time. He probably supports limited loads in handguns and would also like to disregard someone needing to be apprehended after taking 3 shots. |
I don't say this very often, but fuck you. Here is what the OP wrote: "This is a case of a good guy with a gun stopping a bad guy with a gun." But, that's not what happened. The bad guy with a gun kept going, making it outside the office in which the shooting took place. Once outside, he was tackled by two unarmed good guys. |
He knows his customers very well, apparently. |
Jeff, you suppose being shot 3 times slowed him down? You are off kilter more than I thought. Similar tale from Atlanta a few years ago, a home invader was shot 5 times by a woman who huddled in a closet while being coached by her husband on a cell phone. The guy drove away and crashed. I am glad the woman in Atlanta and the doc had guns and a freak like you would be too if it was you, your wife or one of your children at risk. FU |
