| I would love some help understanding the pros and cons of each school. Wootton seems to be the preferred school. What is that based on? |
SAT scores. |
Student body |
Even with the IB kids? Interesting. |
What about it? |
Wootton has more white and Asian kids, fewer black and Hispanic kids, and fewer poor kids. |
hence, the SAT score If your kid is motivated and somewhat resistant to peer pressure, you're OK with racial and socioeconomic diversity - RM is good |
| We choose RM for the diversity and opportunity for less competitive entrance to the IB program. Wootton certainly has a great reputation too. |
| Depends. How much $$$ do you have to spend on housing. |
| OP here. We like diversity. Just want a good and safe school, especially if privates remain out of reach. We'd like to keep the house under 600K, but could maybe stretch to 700K. |
you'll have a bit more house for your money in RM boundaries |
| Woodley Gardens is a lovely Rm neighborhood..fits your budget close to 270, walk to pool, pizza ice cream. |
+1 And creeks send woods. |
|
RM has a huge Hispanic population. Twinbrook feeds into it. Wootton has higher SAT scores and motivation even when factoring IB. It was placed in RM to increase their poor test scores. But if you aren't in IB then yuck.
Wooton is better at most sports too. |
"Huge Hispanic population" at Richard Montgomery = 23%. http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/regulatoryaccountability/glance/currentyear/schools/04201.pdf |
