| Is 15 too young? |
|
Yes, but only by a few years. The best time for a nose-job is between high school and college. First, the bones in the face have stopped growing for the most part and, second, the gilr is usually 18 or very close to legal age of consent.
My niece's life would have been better if she's gotten her nose done after high school. She has beautiful eyes, face shape, complexion - and a very thick, large nose. Her self-esteem has always been in the toilet. A fast and common procedure would have changed her whole life. |
yes, for medical reasons. |
| It depends... why? Has it been broken many times? What is the issue? |
|
Yes, just check with the doctor what is the best time in terms of bone growth. |
| I'd say yes. I have a large nose but now as an adult it looks fine on me. At 15 it did not. You've really got to wait until 18-22 to make an informed decision. |
| PP here--sorry--mean to say that 15 I'd say "no"..obviously |
| 15 is young. 18 is better. Everyone in Hollywood has had a nose job. They all have the same nose. I think big noses will come back in fashion. Too many famous people look the same now. It is weird. |
| OP here, DD is just not happy with her nose. Her last 2 years of school have been terrible. She will be starting high school this year with all new kids and she is begging me to let her get a nose job. Her nose only has a slight bump on the bridge of it, she doesn't want a perfect nose she only wants that bump gone. I got a nose job before entering college and my life completely changed, I felt so much better about myself. I just want her to feel the same way. |
| I thought 15 is too young in the sense the nose is not ready for modification. |
| I wouldn't. You really need to wait until the bones have stopped growing, which I think is between 18 and 21 for most people. I'd wait until 21 to be sure. The nose that looks great on the younger face may look disproportionate or wrong once the face is fully mature. And some people grow into their facial features--what looks funny at 15 looks proportionate at 22. |

I had one at 15, but my case was extreme. I did not have a big nose, or a hook nose, or a bump nose. I had a snub nose with no bridge and huge nostrils, plus asymmetry to boot. A troll nose - for real. No idea where it came from, I have 3 siblings and they all have normal noses. Needless to say, my childhood was miserable, I begged for the nose job, and my mom (who never liked it either and didn't hide it) approved. Grandma paid. High school would have been too awful had there not been some sort of intervention.
But OP, for a little bump like your daughter's I think it would be better to wait. |
Another thing, OP - school is starting in only a few weeks. Not good to make a hasty decision and have so little time to recover. |

I needed a non-cosmetic operation (result of a head trauma when I was 7), and we were told by multiple specialists not to do it until I am 18, since your bones keep growing.
That said why don't you go for a couple of free cosults with plastic surgeons to get medical opinions about timing? |
If she is going to go to the trouble to have a nose job then she should get a "perfect" nose. I had a friend who got a nose job because she had a big nose. She wanted to get a nose to make it a little smaller but not so anyone would notice. What a waste. She should have gotten the best nose she could rather than worrying what people would say. |
