Options for opposing Connecticut Avenue changes?

The ANC majority will continue to stick their (middle) fingers into trying to set policy and ignoring those constituents who have differing or more nuanced views than theirs.

It's actually hilarious that they think all the city's complex problems can be fixed by "passing a resolution." And, all the resolutions are written by one person who isn't even on the ANC.

Maybe not all resolutions. But anything having to do with planning, zoning, development, Connecticut Ave., preservation, etc. apparently is written by a smart growth operative (who also was on the ANC redistricting commission that re-drew the ANC's boundaries). How convenient for him. When the ANC commissioners can't explain very well the resolutions that they have introduced, the smart growth guy steps in to field the questions.

It is an ANC. All they can do is pass resolutions and write letters. They know that, which is why they do that. They are not the Mayor, they are not a Councilmember.

"I don't want to see things change from how they are" is not a nuanced view.

Some ANC across town just announced he was leaving early and he published a letter on Twitter with all his “accomplishments” that was longer than Washington’s farewell address to the nation. Who the hell do these clowns think they are?

You seem to really dislike these people who are in unpaid volunteer positions quite a lot.

I dislike it when these unpaid volunteers -- most of whom run opposed or receive support from an infinitesimally small portion of the electorate -- suddenly decide to stop listening to their constituents and simply do whatever GGW tells them to do.

Fortunately, I think the powers that be recognize that GGW recruits these people and tells them what to do and how to vote. The GGW commissioners vote in lock step on every issue. No debate, no nuance. But, in the end, their resolutions mean nothing because they have not done the hard work of listening to constituents and finding creative and workable solutions.

When did that happen? PS - the loud shouting of unhinged neighborhood cranks does not deserve additional attention. You’re an embarassing annoyance to be worked around. We feel a bit sorry for you.

damn GGW is a successful political machine. they should write a book about how they mesmerize local neighbors with spinning bike wheels to spend all their unpaid free time doing GGW’s bidding on the ANCs.

Correct. I don’t like elected officials who attempt to intimidate family and minority owned small businesses who were here before they were and will (hopefully) be here when they most certainly will (hopefully) leave.

Did you run for ANC commissioner and lose? I'm sorry, that must have been disappointing.
