Great quote about religion!

Anonymous
"Thanking God for the food you have while millions of people around the world starve every single day is like thanking a serial killer because he didn't kill YOU."

That is all.

What? It's late, I don't get it.

So your message is gratitude is sickening? Got it.

No, I think the message is the god your'e so grateful to is not being very nice to a lot of other people. Get it?

Agreed. After hearing her daughter was making progress recovering from a life-threatening illness, someone I know proclaimed "God is so good!" in the middle of the hospital where other kids died every single day. I didn't get it.

Interesting thought!

Although isn't this the reason to help those less fortunate? Give to foodbanks, soup kitchens etc.

I agree with the sentiment in the quote I'm just thinking hat the response is going to be simple.

I agree completely.

OP, do you thank anyone?

Isn't WHAT the reason for helping the less fortunate? Because you can't count on God to do it?

There was a funny article in the Onion recently -- God was donating $5,000 to the American Cancer foundation to help them find a cure -- obviously he couldn't find one himself.

This quote is a major fail.

That quote speaks the truth. You can't credit god with the good, but simultaneously *not* credit god with all the bad things.

Don't forget Free will! and the devil! God is not all powerful at all - he's got lots of excuses for not being able to control everything.

But we must worship him, because he says so, in an ancient book, that also condones slavery.

God answers some prayers, but not others. Some things get better or worse without prayer.

It's a mystery.

or chance.

God answers EVERY prayers. We just don't always understand the answers.

Yes it's a mystery! God will cure one child whose parents prayed a little bit, but not another child who was prayed for by family and friends and a whole church community.
Sometimes God even cures the children of atheists, whose parent don't pray at all (but who knows, others may be praying on the sly!)

We do not understand these things, but humans are not meant to understand everything about God - we are merely human after all!

But we must understand one thing: There is a God. It says so in an ancient book whose only cures came through miracles from Jesus, because modern medicine had not been invented yet.
