Conservative Men in NYC?

Anonymous
When I say "conservative" I don't mean Republican, and I don't even necessarily mean politically conservative. (I'm a moderate.) But I just moved to New York and so far have found it difficult to meet men who are my "type": men who drink whisky, smoke cigars, wear Brooks Brothers and Sperrys, like to hunt, etc. I work in marketing and all the men I meet are nice, but very metro and...New York.

Any suggestions?

I met and married a conservative man. A lot live on the upper east. Try dating sites and make it obvious but not too obvious that you're preppy. There are bars that cater to this but tend to be post grad. There are also sports leagues. I think you're meeting g these types of guys because of your industry and you simply need to venture out. You could also join the junior league to meet female friends which should help you at least figure out where these men are hanging out. Fortunately or unfortunately, many are working long hours

They are there (I married one but we met in college) but hard to find. Agree with PPs suggestion about UES and Junior League. Also get to know people with connections at the private clubs like NYAC, Union Club, etc. Do you participate in any of the activities yourself like sailing, hunting, etc? A lot of the private yacht clubs allow non-members to crew for members or have summer memberships. NYAC has "clubs within the club" for activities like sailing, sporting clays, etc.

Don't move! NY is a great place to meet someone. There are so many men and little to do. A lot of the women are unattractive, materialistic and put out way too easily. You can definitely land a quality guy if you go to the right places.
