OP,
Did you file on your own or with an attorney?

Is it part of any other action against him? I find that usually moves things along.

Just custody. Somebody asked about counsel. I have counsel but filed on own.

In MoCo, CS is settled before custody but can be modified at the time of the custody hearing if there is a substantial change.

Ty. But I'm interested in time frame. I filed June. Earliest payment December?

Ask the self-help office or your lawyer for an estimate, what judges tend to do, etc. I hope it's as fast as possible.

To give you an idea, I filed in May in MD. My ex lived in VA at the time. He went to court in VA in Oct and I think I got my first payment in Nov or Dec. That was for an out of state case. Not as bad as I expected.

Thanks. Did he protest? Mine is protesting. Not sure if its just paternity, jurisdiction, or both. He won't tell me.

Did he protest paying child support? No but who cares? They have to pay child support by law. You file the paperwork and the state/district does the rest. It isn't a choice. Is he listed on the birth certificate? If so, just do the paperwork and go from there.
