Is it worth the extra effort? The recipe I looked at seems like it's basically steaming the corn in the husk, so I'm doubtful.
Yes. It's better. Try it.
I think it depends on what else you're cooking. If we're already grilling, I put the corn on the grill to avoid having to heat up a pot of water. If we're not cooking on the grill anyway, I'm not about to start the grill (charcoal, not gas) just for corn.
It is so much better. Sort of like the difference between a boiled or steam hotdog and a grilled one. You can husk them and put them in aluminum foil on the grill. I will admit I am one of those folks who feeld everything is better on the grill. |

I am also one of those folks who forget to read for typos - sorry

Yes, it's more delicious and I think it's easier than boiling (if you're already grilling). Remove husks, brush on olive oil, salt and pepper and grill. Done. No need for butter or anything.
YES!
Yes...they key is to remove them from the husks, soak for awhile, then wrap in aluminum foil and grill. It is basically grilling and steaming at the same time. So damn good.
We leave the husks on, soak in water for at least 30 minutes, then grill. The corn takes on an almost nutty flavor/texture -- so good!
If you're already grilling, then corn is better on the grill (isn't everything?). If you're not grilling anything else, then just boil it. Fresh corn on the cob is good that way too.
Yes, I think it has more flavor. Especially if I'm using the corn in a salad, like mixed with tomatoes, black beans and avocado. But my favorite way to eat grilled corn is with a little lime juice, salt and cayenne pepper
Yes! Take them out of the husks and put some butter, salt and pepper on before grilling. So good!!
This is how we do it too. If you have time, after you peel off the husk, put them directly on the grill to toast it up a little. |
I prefer steamed/boiled - I think it makes it more tender. Grilling is OK, but can make the kernels tough. That said, if I plan to shave the kernels off for a SWern salad, rather than eating them off the cob, I prefer to grill them.
I like most things grilled, rather than steamed -- e.g., hotdogs or most vegetables -- but I actually like the sweet taste of boiled corn more than the nutty taste of grilled corn. There's no right way or wrong way; just different strokes.
