Is grilled corn on the cob any better than boiled/steamed?

Yes! Abso freakin lutely!

Remove from husks, slather wih butter or olive oil, seasom to taste, wrap (loosely) in foil, and grill for 15 to 20 min, turning frequently until done.

What extra effort? Just throw it on the grill and turn it once in a while.

I also roast mine... Shuck, put in casserole type dish with just a touch of water, cover and roast... It's delicious!

I'm surprised so many people shuck the corn then wrap it in tinfoil to grill. Just soak in the husks and save some foil.

I spray with oil and put directly on the grill (husked). It's good but my kids prefer a quick boil (no "black parts").

Yes I am also surprise so many people soak in water. The water does not penetrate the husk or the the unhusk corn...waste of time.

This is the OP. WE did it last night using the soaking husk method and missed the sweet taste but we couldn't tell if it was the corn that wasn't sweet or the method that didn't bring it out.

You soak them in water to keep the husks from catching on fire.
