Won't that team move to 11v11 in the spring anyway? |
| Same boat here. May just wait to switch next year when they catch up to 11v11 |
| In addition we have two ECNL clubs in our city and we are at the better one and trapped players from the other club have every intention of finally having the chance to make it at the better club. A spring roll out for all ages but the 8th and the recruiting traps would not give the bigger picture of the player pool they are dealing with. |
What’s to say you have to move down? Plenty of kids play up a year now in ECNL. You don’t automatically move down. It will depend on where each player stands after older trapped players move down. |
No room teams, they already packed em to max rev |
| Have you heard from your ECNL coaches/directors if they’re planning for an 8/1 cutoff or 9/1? |
| If the previously trapped player would still be a starter I wouldn’t expect them to move down. |
Seems the cut off is 08/31. |
| 9/1 the latest rumor. |
| That’s disappointing. Our state uses 8/1 so I guess my August kid is still going to be trapped |
Not for my kid, U12 is 9v9, and would have to take a kids slot there. Cascading effect and lack of opening at teams would seem to make spring very, very limited for movement among teams. Also shows why making an exception for HS years would cause problems for kids and clubs. |
So what that does that mean? I'm new here so if they go to 9/1 how does that work? I have a daughter that was born in October 2011 and plays on a 2011 team but is a grade below most of the girls on her team. Does that mean next year she will play with the 2012s? TIA. |
She would be grouped with players born from 9/1/2011 - 8/31/2012 |
Don’t worry about it. ECNL will have waivers for summer kids similar to LAX so they can play with school grade. Starting Fall 26. |
8/31 hasn't been discussed at all. The push has been to revert back to the old way, which was 8/1 - 7/31. The questionnaire/comment request that was sent US Soccer generally mentioned reverting to school year and used both 8/1 and 9/1 as examples. Nothing has been decided or voted on yet, but that is why 9/1 has now entered the chat. My personal opinion is that it will revert back to what it was, and that US Soccer threw out 9/1 to make it seem like they're considering other options. Sort of like they are considering everyone's opinion with the bogus comment request. |
