| So frustrated with swimsuit shopping - I just want to go to the pool with my kids and not be self conscious. I'm not super overweight but my thighs especially back are cellulite. Any style swimsuit looks horrible from the back. All the swim dresses are so matronly. So I basically wear a coverup and just don't go in the water - very sad... |

Oh honey. Go play with your kids. Nobody's looking at your cellulite!
Confidence is all you need. Just find a nice swimsuit at Lands End and commit. It's not about how you look, it's about spending time with your kids. |
| I adopted the attitude.... I don't have to look at me. Just go play with your kids. Truly unless your trying to flaunt it in a string bikini , no one is looking. |
| I used to be like you OP. Now I have an 18 month old water toddler. I used to wear a cover up but found I was running after him as he hurtled himself towards the ocean. Now I spend about half my week in a bathing suit and have developed a kind of "my body isn't perfect but I'm not going to make my kid suffer because of my self confidence". It's amazing how much less I care now. |
| That is very sad and you will regret it when they get older and you have time to reflect. Go play with your kids. No one cares about your cellulite except you. |
| Op here - thanks everybody. I'm really trying to get over this. I'm just so disappointed in myself for not being in better shape I guess. It doesn't help that all the moms at my pool are super fit. It's not fair that men can just wear some shorts and a rash guard and women have to wear next to nothing ! I know I sound crazy !!!! |
Land's End has rash guards and shorts and swim mini's for women. This could work for you. I think swimwear is still 40% off. |
Paris Hilton, who weighs 120 soaking wet, has cellulite. Thin people can have cellulite. If you were running around after your kids and playing with them, you'd burn more calories than sitting on the edge of the pool in your sarong staring sadly into the water thinking about how you wish you could be in it. Go play with your kids.

Op here - I think the swim mini skirt is exactly what I need to make this a non issue. Thanks I'm ordering right away ! |
|
My mother always wore shorts at the beach. She also wear men's polos. Just go into the men's section and pick out a short you like! |
| Buy a swim skirt and tankini top. The lands end skirts are short but cover your butt and upper thighs. I bought a halter neck tankini top elsewhere (one with a deep v neck cut to accentuate the girls). |
Do NOT do this. Just wear a regular, well fitting suit and gave fun. |
| Lands End has some cover up shorts you could wear over your suit. They also sell swim shorts! |

Yep, this is true. I say it as a vain person too- your kids don't care about your cellulite, nor do the other moms there, who are playing with their kids despite their own body insecurities. Life is TOO DAMN SHORT to worry about how your ass looks at the pool once you're married with kids and not actively trying to impress anyone. (Not saying let yourself go, just let go of worrying about shit like cellulite that we all have.) |
