Need a brand of red quinoa that doesn't have to be rinsed

Anonymous
I adore quinoa and make it a lot. But I hate rinsing it. Anyone have a favorite brand of red-quinoa that doesn't require rinsing?

I thought most of them don't have to be anymore?

Can't recall the name, but Safeway sells an organic quinoa in a green box that's red and doesn't need rinsing.

Supposedly the Trader Joe's brand doesn't need rinsing (or is pre-rinsed). I am so in the habit of rinsing quinoa that I usually rinse it anyway, though! It's certainly worth a try--it's a good price!

Also, and this is a little OT, have you tried the oven method for cooking it? I'm a decent cook (I hope!), but I always seem to screw up grains on the stove, so this (http://www.beyondsalmon.com/2011/03/how-to-cook-quinoa.html) and Alton Brown's baked brown rice recipes were really helpful!

Stupid question: how do you rinse your quinoa?
It is so small it gets stuck in all my devices I usually rinse with!

OP here. I haven't tried the oven method, but my newest go-to method for quinoa is to use my Zojirushi (sp?) rice cooker. One cup quinoa, two cups water. So easy.

When I do rinse quinoa, I use a fine mesh sieve to wash it. (Must be a sieve, can't be a mesh colander because the grains slip through.) I put it in a bowl, fill with water, and move back and forth between the sieve and the bowl to get it fully clean. I find it cumbersome because the tiny grains can be a hassle, and then I've dirtied the sieve and a bowl. It only takes an extra 5 minutes to wash it but when I'm in a rush, I find it easier to just use the rice cooker.

When I don't use the rice cooker, I cook it like pasta and drain it as soon as the quinoa is done.

Thanks all for the advice. Turns out the Ancient Harvest brand (which doesn't require rinsing) now has red quinoa and I ordered a bunch of boxes from Vitacost.

Why do you have to rinse quinoa?

It tastes soapy if you don't. When you rinse it it actually looks soapy.

I buy the "TruRoots" brand organic quinoa from Costco and I never rinse it.
