I had a roof inspection and there was hail damage found.
I started reading reviews of the company and if I had to do the work they wouldn't be my first pick. What would you do if you wanted a different company to perform the work? |
| Is this local? I don't recall hail recently. If the company found indications of hail damage it could be lots of different things. I would get multiple companies to offer quotes for roof repair/replacement. Easiest home improvement scam because you likely will never see it. |

Shop around.
Our inspector said our roof would need to be replaced in five years. We had several companies out to look at it. Two said it needed to be done immediately. One of them struck me as a "sales" type person and not a roofer. One was there when the inspector was there, and after he left the inspecto told us he was flat out making things up. That guy had the most expensive roof and did the least extensive inspection. The second, who had some construction background said in the next three years. The last person, an actual roofer, looked at everything and agreed w the inspector that we had roughly five years left on the roof. He gave specific reasons why our roof was okay for now. He told us he would be happy to put a new roof on now, but we didn't need one yet so he would rather we just save $1500/year for the next five years so we would be able to pay in full without any stress when the time came to replace the roof. So we are putting away $$ each month into a roof fund and going with the last guy when the time comes. Get several opinions. |
| Three quotes minimum. |
Have them take photos of the damage. |
| I have photos of the hail. We did get hail in mclean a few months a go but I thought nothing of it. |
