Fun Indoor Places for Kids

Anonymous
What are some fun indoor places to take kids during the summer when trying to avoid the heat? I don't mean general ideas, but specific places. I'm in Rockville but happy to travel. I'm trying to come up with a list to have handy for planning the night before. So far I have -

Monster mini golf in Gaithersburg
Duck pin bowling at White Oak Lanes
Building zone at the National Building Museum
Bounce U in Rockville
Mall playplaces (Lake Forest and Montgomery)
Baltimore Aquarium
Children's museum at National Harbor
Meadowside and Croyden Creek nature centers
Regal Express $1 movies
Library story times
Tot time at the Rio
Port Discovery in Baltimore

Any ideas?

OP, check the public library calendar. In MoCo, there usually aren't story times during the summer, but they often have special events--lego builds, county fair presentation, videos, etc.

Also, I've heard disappointing things about the Children's Museum at Nat'l Harbor. There's the ferris wheel and The Awakening sculpture, but not much else down at the Harbor and it's kind of a trek.

You might also find some other ideas here:

I'd add Adventure Theatre to your list.

Dulles town center has a immature train and carousel as well as a fun airplane themed play area. On Thursdays, I believe, they have free children's entertainment in the food court.
