DD is a solid C student (some A's some D's) even though I have had teachers tell me "he is one of the brightest students in the class".
He has inattentive ADD and I think that is what keeps his grades where they are. He has goals for himself and wants to go to a 4 year college. Are there any schools, other than community college, that will accept a C student? Thanks in advance. |

DD is a solid C student with ADHD. She's going to Mont.
College and then we'll reevaluate in 2 yrs |
| I was in his boat in the 80s and ended up at Earlham, a four year Quaker college. |

Community college first. Let him courses he is interested in, get good grades then transfer to a college.

It's going to be hard with Ds to get into a solid 4 year program. If he wants to get into an extremely noncompetitive program, then that's fine, but at the end of the day, would that be best for him? Probably not.
I would say, do community college. He can take courses he's passionate about, and get good grades. Then he can get into a solid program for his bachelors. That would be a lot more respected by employers/graduate programs than going to a less par 4 year school. |
Part of getting to that goal is getting his grades up. Sometimes goals take patience and they take the road less traveled. But it might be the right road for him. |
| What does he ultimately want to do for a job? Does he know? That may inform whether it's better to go down the CC road or the 4 yr college road. |
Not so sure about Auburn or Tennessee. |

Look at the requirements of transfer students, it is lower than in coming freshman because it does not go against their us new ranking.
|
| It does depend what high school he goes to and what his course choice has been. If it is a more rigorous public or private he can probably get into a 4 year program even with Cs |

How many final grades of a D are we talking about?
I'd like to suggest a 4 yr school. If he gets in, let him go. Community College can be a black hole. However, depends on how many "D's" Is this DD a him? |

Yes, DD is actually DS! (Can you tell I am very tired today?!)
Have not received final grades yet, so not sure what final count will be. Grades are very inconsistent. In one class he will have a B one quarter, an E the next. Not pretty, but it is what it is. |
