| just joined a Mommy work-out group and it occurred to me over the weekend maybe my baby is too young to be going for stroller jogs (fwiw, I am sloow and he's in a carseat attached to Summit X3)....... don't want to hurt him with bouncing around. |
| Yes, you are. |
| I'm pretty sure you're supposed to hold off on jogging with a baby until they are about 6 months old and have some control of their neck muscles. I'd stick to "speedy walks" if I were on your shoes. |
+1 they are supposed to be able to sit up on their own (enough neck strength to keep their airway clear) |
| I thought they had to have really good head/neck control before jogging with them? I think 6 months old is the minimum recommended age to jog with them while in a stroller. |
| I'm not going to call you an idiot but stop doing this immediately. You shouldn't jog with an baby until they're at least 6 months old and have better head/neck control (read your manual to be sure on age. It might be older). Jogging strollers definitely aren't tested and/or approved for jogging with the infant attachment. |
| Too early. Don't do it until at least 6 months. |
|
I'm not going to pile on, but yes.
Man, there are SO MANY dumb things we do that no one told us about, or if we had just read the manual/warning label/grocery cart sign, etc..... It's hard to be perfect all of the time. There's a lot on the line if you're not, though. |
| shaken baby syndrome. |
| Duh |
From the Baby Jogger page on the Summit X3 (http://www.babyjogger.com/product/summit-x3/)
The six month advice given above is pretty much the standard in the industry and every jogging stroller and new parent jogging site recommends that. Really, Google is your friend. Just Google "Jogging infant" and you'll find hundreds of sites that talk about this. |
| OP, don't beat yourself up. I know other women who jog with their babies in their strollers too. That said, I asked my pediatrician and she said that it's best to wait until your baby has good trunk control, which is usually around 8 months. |
This, but hey OP as long as you look thin. |
+2. You might want to consult DCUM, Google, your ped, whatever, beforehand next time. |
| I'm really surprised someone in the "Mommy work-out group" didn't say something to you. |
