am I an idiot for jogging with 2 month old in stroller?

Give OP a break. It doesn't sound like she has even taken the class yet. She just signed up and has since realized that this may not be a good idea.

I have a Summit x3 also and it's my understanding you can put a newborn directly in it with no adaptor but for walking only. It cannot be used for jogging until babyis older.

I totally understand your need to get back into running, but please wait. Get a treadmill or have someone watch the baby. The baby really should be at least 6 months.

Maybe not an "idiot", per se, but I really would not run with a child under 6 months old. I'm a very devoted runner and wouldn't dream of doing that, even though my daughter had good head/neck control.

For now, you may want to find a gym with good child care and run on the treadmill, have your husband watch your child while you run, or walk with him/her in the stroller.

Please just don't. Please. And I'm a die-hard runner, and take my kids out in the jogging stroller all the time, but just don't do this.

Ask your pediatrician at the six month check up; readiness depends in part on the child, but six months is the earliest you could realistically do it.

When I put my older than 6 months grandson in the bob ironman and ran with him fully reclined, the seat swung gently back and forth with less vigor than his swing. So...I think that if your stroller reclines fully and also takes the bounce---btw, what are you running on? Sidewalks should actually be just fine anyway---and turns it into a swinging motion, you should be fine. If the kid is only 2 months old, you aren't running very hard anyway.

You dont know how hard she running a 2 months, I ran a 1/2 marathon 9 weeks postpartum. I would never jog or run with a baby under 9m. OP they make the carseat adapter so you can use your jogging stroller as an everyday stroller NOT so that you can jog with an infant.

Do not listen to this person. No running before 6-8 months with an infant and consult ped before doing so. Also, you aren't supposed to run with a child of any age in the recline position!

OP, as others have said, no, you cannot jog before six months (per Baby Jogger, among many others!) But also, you cannot job with the car seat attachment, regardless of age. Baby Jogger explicitly forbids jogging or running with the car seat adapter connected--for walking only.

Basically: wait until six months to jog with the baby, and then only in the stroller seat. There are similar mom-and-baby groups for walking, though; I'd start with one of those and move up to jogging when your little one is older.

Poor baby's head is bopping around while you get your workout in

By the time my infant was two months old, she had decent head control. 3 months, for sure----but they slept on their tummies and were up on their knees at 4 months. Putting your baby on their backs all the time is not good for them, they should be on their tummies when they are awake

Just walk until baby is over 6 months.

I took the baby work out classes and you're not really jogging with your baby - they do short sprints - which you can do without your stroller - the teacher watches the babies. and you do a lot of squats/strength stuff. i did the class during the winter, so it was in the mall early in the morning and we ran up and down 3 flights of stairs a bunch, with the teacher watching the babies at the bottom.

Also, jogging with your baby can not cause shaken baby syndrome. Shaken baby is a very specific type of injury resulting from shaking a baby where the head goes back and forth violently. which can't happen in a jogging stroller at any speed. unless the baby flew out.

So you routinely discount medical advice....great!

wow I am shocked by all the people who say this isn't ok.

baby in a jogging stroller with no support= no, all the recs not to jog with them until they are 8 months or sitting are for baby in the stroller WITHOUT a car seat.

baby in a car seat attached to a jogging stroller= perfectly fine. seriously no different than driving with your baby in the car in the car seat. They are very well supported.

just be sure you fix the front wheel of the stroller as it bounced weird if you dont.
