Agree. Participation in our local rec teams is way down and it’s starting to impact size of local public and private school rosters

Wonder why this is...?

Lacrosse has become a worse form of hockey - if your kid isnt playing on a travel team by 3rd or 4th grade then the view is that your kid missed the boat so numbers are plummeting. That trend is now starting to show at the high school level. Long gone are the days of the talented 8th or 9th grade athlete who takes up lax and shines. Doesn’t bode well for the future of the sport.

Should be a great game on Monday night!

If GZ plays like they did last night vs GC, the Eagles should win.

I'm a bit surprised DM played SJC soo close yet again.

Monday should be a great one no doubt about it. GZ will be looking for revenge.

I am also surprised how DM played SJC so tight. Hats off to them for a great end of the year, looks like Mitchell was the answer.

If Bellistri were smart he would try and get Mitchell on his staff ASAP but JB is too arrogant.

That had some absolute monsters this year. Best attackmen in the area, the best middle in the area, the best pole in the area, and the best goalie in the area

Agree. This was a special Landon team and you could see this team was building towards the end of the 2023 season.

Landon was better at the attack, more athletic and deeper in the midfield, better coached at the defensive end of the field (even I'd take Prep's defensive personnel over Landon's), and extremely disciplined between the "lines". On top of that, Landon's goalie, who is not even going to play in college, is the best goalie in the IAC.

Prep lax is in trouble next year as they are graduating a strong 2024 class and their JV team was embarrassing this year. Expect Prep to hit the "transfer portal" hard this summer and bring in some out-of-town boarders as the cupboard is rather empty.

Landon will be the favorite to repeat in the IAC next Spring. Bullis will give them a run for their money with their 2025 class.

Landon and SJC coaching is better than the other schools.

People have rightfully recognized Speaks and co the last few years, but slept on Landon's coaching as they've been a little down talent wise.

This year, with a strong (but not world beating) senior class and a lot of midfield depth, Landon's coaching shined as they dominated the league, including likely more runaway IAC victories than the 2017 team.

No disputing the league and Landon were better in 2017, but what the coaching staff got out of this team should remind everyone why Landon is Landon.

Prep and Bullis win when they're way more talented. Landon and SJC are always in the mix and runaway with things when they're more talented.

We will find out just how good Gonzaga’s coaching staff is on Monday!

Have to give credit to what speaks did with the Cadets this year too.

After a very rough start to the season, the Cadets found their groove.

GC is what we thought they were.

If SJC beats Gonzaga a second time, Cadets will own most impressive 2024 resume of any DC area team. Landon's top wins were over Prep and Bullis, both teams Gonzaga beat. Landon needed OT to beat Gonzaga and Gonzaga got manhandled by SJC. Landon beat DeMatha 13-9 when the Stags were amidst a 1-5 skid, but that was before DM fired their coach. DM was a changed team after that. Landon's best win out of conference was Highland Park, TX. SJC's was Taft, CT. Landon had a better record, SJC has much tougher Strength of Schedule. Gonzaga could do Landon and DCUM a big favor and beat SJC. That would give Landon the DC title.

Good for Landon on the win but aren’t most of their best kids all from pretty far away? It’s not like it’s actually a team from the immediate area. Maddox helped bring in kids that shunted his own sons to the bench. In the end though, a win is a win!

💯 % correct. Only a Landon fan that continues to think Cardinal Gibbons is tough competition would disagree. Kubick is responsible for the current success of the program. Most unselfish play by them in decades. Maybe they will actually schedule tough competition next year. Didn’t play one current top 20 team.

Landon played Haverford but lost. Criticisms of their national schedule are legitimate.

Eyeball test Landon is the best in the area, but SJC didn't duck them, played a harder schedule, and has a tougher conference this year.

Inside lacrosse has Landon ranked 7th and SJ ranked 24th.

Lax numbers calculation has Landon 13th and SJ 41st. That is a computer calculation based on scores and strength of schedule. Impossible to say you are a better judge of a schedule than this computer algorithm
