Just started couch 2 5k program. Have never been able to stick with running because everything hurts (even when I am in good shape otherwise due to biking, etc) and I get bored. However, I've been lifting and doing some interval training and would like to be able to take an occasional run since its really so convenient. I started couch25k but i'm on week 2 and suddenly one leg hurts (hip) and the other shin hurts. Plus I've had 2 knee surgeries and don't want to stress my joints. I think I have bad shoes--where can I get good running shoes fitted to me and some kind of analysis of how I run? I also probably am not running 'correctly' but for the moment just want shoes.
Fleet Feet in Adams Morgan is where I get my shoes. They will take the time to talk with you and let you go out on the sidewalk to test the shoes out.
I've usedPotomac Running in Falls Church, though I think any running-specific store would do. They did one of those analyzer things where they had me run on the treadmill. I went bc the shoes I'd picked out on my own turned out to be too small. They got me in the right size and a pair with a little more stability. My feet haven't hurt since.
I'm a fan of Potomac River Running as well. (The one in Falls Church has not-great parking, but the staff is great.) They will really help you. There are other locations, too (Reston Town Center, for example).
OP here, thanks! I will try Potomac running. I was looking for the analyzer thing--I probably pronate, etc, and it would be good to see if better shoes help out.
