Kate's New Picture

Kate having lap band surgery is among the dumbest things I’ve ever about this situation.

Kate having an eating disorder is not.

Either for alcoholism (most popular) or eating disorders.
Either way, that's what has been going on and that is what has been covered up.

What do you at a rehab for eating disorders? Can’t you just eat at home?

Why didn’t you ask this legit Brit insider whether the rehab was really for heroin addiction? Or is Kate on crack? Or is it for deep conditioner and eyeliner overuse? It’s pretty crappy and princess-fantasist to not explore all possibilities.

That crack about princess fantasists stung someone hard

I think this is the core of what's happening right now. It would perfectly explain the communications meltdown happening in KP over the past few weeks + the changing tone toward Catherine in the UK media.

Everything else - Rose Hanbury/cheating, DV, pregnancy/abortion, school choice for George, comas - are unverifiable rumors or silly conspiracy theories. I wish this thread would stay away from this crap, it's dumb noise.

The core issue is that the marriage is on the verge of complete breakdown and Catherine is on the outs. And this is absolutely within the realm of possibility in the highly dysfunctional Windsor family. The Palace was similarly dysfunctional when Diana and Charles were breaking down.

If William does divorce Catherine, I will feel bad for little George - no one will want to marry him. What woman would possibly sign up to be the 3rd generation jilted wife of the future monarch?

-DCUM Nostradamus

With the caveat that I’m an anti-monarchist (as much as a non-Brit can be)…

This theory is one of the two that make sense to me. She’s deliberately not cooperating with whatever messaging KP is trying to make, as it’s her only leverage. And she knows she needs leverage or she’ll get screwed on accessing and influencing her kids - the only reason Diana is seen with sympathy is because she died dramatically and tragically.

I also understand why William would want a divorce, but I also don’t understand how he could be stupid enough to think it would be at all good for his image and popularity. But I might be underestimating his stupidity and ego…

The other theory that makes the most sense to me is that there isn’t anything more nefarious than usual (he’s a jerk, she’s a vain PITA), but they are so clueless, self-centered, and egotistical that they actually believe the whole “anointed by god” thing and can’t fathom how this looks bad for them.

I think Kate is the only royal who isn't clueless about image. She's the only one who really had to work to be in the position she's in. I also think she, like many Brits, is a genuine believer in the importance of the royal family (have you ever spoken with an English royalist? As an American I truly cannot understand the off-the-charts patriotism of everyday commoners). I don't think she would intentionally screw up their image. She is choosing to not go out of her way to make it better because she's screwed no matter what she does. William is one minor medical issue away from being King, he can get what he wants, and might not be totally unreasonable in thinking that royalists are going to remain loyal to him no matter what he does to Kate.

The only other theory I'd buy is that whatever health issue she experienced left her severely disfigured *and* the PR Kensington Palace team is way, way more incompetent than we thought (and I didn't think they were competent to begin with).

New PP. I have a unicorn to sell you. The game is not to marry for love, the game is to marry for power and money. She does not feel any allegiance to the RF. She’s in it for the money. This is not a fairytale, this is real life checkers - play or be played. Position yourself well or you lose and that can cost you your life.

I think she had a cosmetic procedure to shrink her stomach to ensure she’s fit and never overweight. I believe they are also divorcing but the two are not in any way connected (surgery and divorce) . I believe the surgery was planned but the divorce was not. They just fell into the same timing.

Wtf. She’s been been thin and fit her entire adulthood. She did not get a gastric sleeve. No surgeon would even do that. What is wrong with you?

That poster is high on unicorn dust.

Surgeons break the rules for celebrities all the time. What would be new about that? She’s married into the British Royal family . There is a dedicated Royal gynecologist for goodness sakes. What rules are they abiding by?

Did the most royal gyno eff up Kate’s lap band? Is that why we’re all working hard to resolve this mystery?

Oh Blanche. You’re so not funny.

Every doctor Kate would see has been appointed by the Royal Family. There’s no way an unexpected surgery was happening by whomever was on call at whatever hospital is down the street. There is always someone on the Royal payroll to cover the medical conditions in that family.

So I googled and found several articles over the years about Kate with bandages on her hands:

Article from 2018: https://www.cosmopolitan.com/uk/reports/a24876357/kate-middleton-plasters-hands/

Here’s another: https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/uk-world-news/royal-fans-ask-kate-middleton-8745973

And another from last fall:

An ED may have been an unhealthy coping mechanism. May or may not be linked to surgery.

They are already said to live apart.

What changed?

Why did they let the doting, protective husband facade drop and why don't they seem to care that this looks negative for him and for the stability of the monarchy at a time when Charles has cancer?

I think people forget how dumb the monarchy really is. They were like this during the Diana tragedy as well. Cavalier and trying to go through life as usual while the country/world was in mourning. They don’t understand that they have to be performative at times and pretend to be emotional.

The people wanted to see Will on one knee crying in front of the hospital. Since they don’t see it, they think the royals are cruel.

People these days think people are like movie characters. They want to see the meltdowns

Right. PR/KP/BP, whoever could have said Kate’s stepping back due to “exhaustion” and 98% of people would have accepted that. The other 2% are impossible to satisfy.

Can we get back on track? This one has some legs.

What is actually “known” about the ambulance footage?

Intensive therapy. Psych meds. Daily weights. Monitored eating. If you’re very far in, they need to restart your diet carefully to avoid refeeding syndrome. If you refuse to eat, they’ll place an NG tube and tube feed you.

That can’t be a serious question from an adult. You have no idea what rehab is?

If she’s in rehab why wouldn’t they just say that? Celebrities do all the time. There is no shame in getting the help you need to be healthy. In fact it’s a great message to send. Similar to Charles “transparency” around his prostate surgery and cancer diagnosis.

Ozempic is known to cause abdominal issues including severe paralysis of the stomach fwiw and it’s rather popular in Hollywood circles. Goal is to stay thin, right?

I agree, and in answer to the "what changed" question, one thing that changed is Elizabeth. Now that she is out of the picture it might be harder to keep everyone in line. I mean, did Charles ever keep people in line? Wasn't William always eager to please his grandma? Of course she was the queen but it seems like was is more powerful than Charles is. Anyway, I agree that the monarchy is dumb and of course was terrible to Diana but I also think it's fair to think that Queen Elizabeth learned some lessons there than the other royals didn't.

I was being facetious . I can tell sarcasm
but I was serious about rehab being for commoners.

The truly rich and famous do something more in house. The royals are extremely private and I just don’t see Kate going off to an rehab when they can bring those same specialists in house for private care. Why would she have to be checked in somewhere?

Can you help the poor princess fantasists though? Because gosh, it did smart. Or is it outside of your expertise, as much as you have about marriage, marketing, photoshop, the royal press, lap bands, addiction, politics, wigs, Dorothy Zbornak and Blanche Devareaux, and realpolitik?

She is not cooperating and hates the way she looks (gaining weight) and so refuses to be photographed. She was responsible for the mother's day photo and it was a genuine apology. No one is throwing her under the bus. She is mentally unwell and William is floundering under the pressures of a sick wife and father. Her parents are holed up with her somewhere watching her 24/7.

This makes sense to me

Celebrities also lie about not being in rehab. Also, the BRF isn't hollywood.

We really don't know anything about Kate. Don't know how vain she could be at the moment. I can see a scenario where she is being forced weight gain and she cannot handle it. She has been in control of her image for so long and it's spiraling for her. Will can't control her and called in her parents to help. They are all still struggling to control her. Hating the way she currently looks and in an effort to regain some control, she starts photoshopping images of her old self with current pictures of the kids. She decides to post/send one on mother's day, against her family's advice. It blows up, she apologizes, but still refuses to show herself. She also refuses for the family to publicly acknowledge her eating disorder.
