The impeachment was an attempt to mitigate the great economy and try to knock Trump down. It appears to have backfired: Trump's approval rating is actually going up!

There is an easy explanation: it would be insanity to embrace the policies of some of the leading contenders for the nomination. It would destroy this economy. Does anyone want to risk what is working for some pie in the sky scheme by the Democratic candidates?

I find Trump to be really offensive and uncouth in some of what he does and I wish he would be more restrained ......... but millions of voters will choose poor optics over hare-brained economic policies and mindless social spending.

A lot of us boomers are spending more money on health care, travel, hotels, restaurants, etc., and putting money into our retirement accounts. It has nothing to do with Trump or Obama or anyone in politics. It’s where we are in life. Our kids are out of college and we aren’t buying bigger houses, so we can afford to spend a little money on ourselves that coincidentally supports jobs in several service sectors.

I agree. And I did 10 years ago. But I know many that can’t for one reason or another. I am not for a giant distribution scheme but believe we need a better social safety net and better wages for people who either must be a worker bee or choose to be for a variety of different reasons.

How is it that every Trump supporter on this forum can *simultaneously* believe:
1. Democrats are liberal, coastal elites who ignore the concerns of the ordinary working class.
2. Democrats are terribly hurt and angry about a strong economy and stock market highs.
3. Democrats are all socialists who want to redistribute wealth from the rich to the poor.
