I know that thought satisfies you emotionally. I work with facts and data, though. We are safer specifically because Montgomery County Police did their job and arrested them. These guys are in jail and will be prosecuted. They will likely spend years in a Maryland prison. If ICE had gotten them first, ICE would likely release them on bail as their immigration case moves through the federal system. And even deporting them is no guarantee they won’t cone back. Not many escape from Maryland Correctional Institute. |
Bad logic, tag these animals, collect dna, deport and track so they are denied entry. |
The media will never accurately report crime by illegal immigrants. It would go against their narrative that they've been spinning for years that they are all hard working, decent, church going, little league coaches , etc etc etc that are just looking for a quiet lives. |
This has been going on for years. I agree that Elrich is terrible, but he is not the only one to blame. Montgomery County voters want a Sanctuary County. Like it or not, this is what voters have chosen. |
That’s who you are. If you were alive 100 years ago I’m sure you’d be part of some vigilante group breaking into jails, grabbing the black guy accused of a crime, and lynching him. Thinking all the whole you are helping Public Safety. There is a Constitution for a reason. And it applies to everyone. Innocent until proven guilty. No unjust search and seizure. And so on. Illegal immigrants have certain constitutional rights whether you like it or not. If you believe in abiding the law, none of what you want can be done. |
+1 Most of the provisions of the Constitution apply on the basis of personhood and jurisdiction in the United States and many parts of the Constitution use the term “people” or “person” rather than “citizen” which means those laws apply to everyone physically on U.S. soil, whether or not they are a citizen. |
They should still be deported... which MoCo is actively trying to block. |
| It’s not actively trying to block deportation. Do you really believe that or are you just making stuff up? The county is in full compliance with federal law. Whether ICE is competent at their jobs is another issue. |
| They are definitely trying to block deportations. What is the purpose of blocking another law enforcement agency from their jails? |
| There’s an event for 11 am Friday outside of the council |
I hope it is an event to make a lot of noise about the decisions they have recently made. |
That doesn’t block deportations. ICE can pick people up in the parking lot. Or anywhere else. Just not in County buildings. The ICE detainers are civil, not criminal. No reason for the people to be in jail. |
They are doing their best to stop deportation. What about the couple hundred thousand MoCo council set aside to ...wait for it... Fight deportations?! Does that count? You guys bend over backwards to say you don't want to help criminals but the proof is there in the policies. At least have the backbone to admit it. |

| Where are the "DEPORT THEM" demonstrations? Why is the opposition to MoCo's policy towards illegals strictly limited to anonymous social media platforms? |
