Literally nobody cares about either. I find it hard to believe grads or even affiliates of either school would even be on a message board bragging about their acceptance rates. Get a life. |
who cares about boarding school circles?I probably would not recognize most boarding/private schools but I know what Oberlin is, as do a lot of people who "count". How sad to go through your entire life having to ride a name of some sort. |
|
Sorry, Oberlin grad, your school will come back. |
1. literally doesn't mean what you think it means 2. you're an idiot |
Michigan?? Um, no
|
+1 It's not even a contest. Why are people wasting time arguing this? |
|
1) Chicago
2) Northwestern 3) Washington University 4) Notre Dame 5) Michigan 6) Illinois |
| Why is this thread still going? Please agree to disagree! |

Illinois is not prestigious.
Michigan is very hard to get into from this area so that affects the perception. |
Exactly. Very easy for in state kids to get in. It is like saying UVA is prestigious, when half of NOVA goes there. |
Pretty close. 1) Chicago 2) Northwestern 3) Michigan 4) Notre Dame 5) Washington University And that's it, the full list of prestigious Midwestern colleges and universities. (And I say that as someone who thinks that Carleton is a better school than any of them except possibly Chicago. But it's just not well enough known outside of geek circles to be prestigious. Honestly, you could make a similar case to strike Chicago, Northwestern, and Wash U from the list and leave just Michigan and Notre Dame.) |
Illinois--yes in general, but with one exception--engineering. Illinois is a prestigious school when it comes to engineering and CS. Anyone who is these fields knows of Illinois' rather impressive reputation in these fields. |
Kind of like cheap eateries - McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King, KFC, El Pollo Loco, Taco Bell, Domino's, Chick-fil-A and Pizza Hut - fighting for the most prestigious Fast-Food Restaurant award. |
