That is “opposing it” in Arlington. What is your worry? That he will or won’t be elected? Because he will handily be re elected FYI.

Some people want to have it both ways - when JV is running for reelection, to say he supports it, because they don't want him to look out of alignment with Arlington. Then when AH is being discussed outside the context of an election, to say JV opposes it, to make it appear as if opposition to AH is mainstream in Arlington.

You can't have it both ways. Not everyone in Arlington agrees on the priority for AH, or where it should be located, but its so mainstream that the least supportive member of the BoS has to support it and votes for it regularly. Quite different from say, the street car, or the Long Bridge Acquatics Center, which did not / do not have that breadth of support.

There is no BoS in Arlington...

BoS = County Board. No need to be a hair-splitting putz.

DP. I figured that's what pp was referring to, but since no one in Arlington calls it the Board of Supervisors (or similar), I do wonder if that poster really lives in Arlington (and if so, have they been here long enough to truly understand local politics).

Great plan,Chief!

Yes. Let’s just do nothing and then complain about it later. Good approach.

You think making the situation affirmatively worse is better than maintaining the status quo for one more year? I don't think you understand the dynamics here. Vihstadt is willing to do far more for schools than de Ferranti, and he's opposed to further expansion of AH while de Ferranti supports its expansion. If we vote out Vihstadt in favor of de Ferranti, the message we will send to the CB is that voters want AH and don't want more money going to schools.

Dorsey and Cristol (both of whom are hostile to school funding) are both up for reelection in 2019. That's the year to make our statement. Not this year.

DP. That’s not how this works. If you can’t back up your statements then STFU.

1) Someone already posted links, so calm down.

2) While I agree in general that people should be prepared to back up their assertions with support, there are also some things that shouldn't be considered controversial or questionable to anyone who is paying attention. Would you demand proof from someone who said there's a FARMS disparity between North and South Arlington schools? That there are five members on the APS School Board? At what point do people have a responsibility to minimally educate themselves on issues rather than demanding everyone else take the time to educate themselves and then spoonfeed that information to people who can't be bothered?

His “opposition to further expansion of AH” is NOT a well-known “fact”. He HAS voted to expand AH and still considers lack of affordable housing to be a big issue in 2018.

If you want to make disputable statements back them up. Or just stfu.

Dp- It’s all listed above you. Anyone who has been following arlington politics would understand the dynamics at play. Stop embarrassing yourself.

You’re still just making some assumptions here.

Just because he wants to make informed, controlled decisions about AH expansion doesn’t mean he opposes it.

That is “opposing it” in Arlington. What is your worry? That he will or won’t be elected? Because he will handily be re elected FYI.

Maybe in your mind.

I’m not worried. I hope he gets re-elected.

Anyway, if you are going to make disputable statements like that you need substantiate it and disclose your interpretation.

Arlington posters piss all over each other and then periodically claim it must be outsiders with full bladders.

Sorry. I’ll be here calling you out whenever you try to sell your opinion as fact.

^ well, at least you are smart enough to post anonymously. I’m very embarrassed for you. Please go back up thread and read all that links re: John Vihstadt.
He has publically stated we should slow down AH on the western Pike and was publically critical of the AHMP.

Like I said, making informed, controlled decisions is not the same thing as opposing it.

And distributing across the county instead of cramming more in already-saturated MF areas is not opposing it.

It won’t happen if it’s spread out. Informed, controlled decisions regarding AH puts the breaks on it. Why do you think they keep discussing Lee Highway to death?
That is Arlington’s version of opposition. Closest thing to it.
