How do you think it will play out? You mean like people suing her?

If she stole music from lesser known Latino artists while making a big deal on collaborating with George Michael's estate, i hope that comes to light. That would be really messed up!

NP. You’ve taken an earlier poster’s comment of “This reminds me of a song from the 80’s” and turned it, somehow, into illegal copyright infringement against Latino artists. Truly, I think it’s time for you to take a break from this thread.

I was responding to this post:
Gross she ripped off so many other artists making this album, this is especially disappointing considering all the struggles she had with owning her masters. I wonder how all of this will play out.

And PP, once you become the self-appointed police of a thread, that's your sign to take a break

Showgirl has taken a few listens but now I’m all in! Opalite is pure joy! I honestly feel bad for anyone who can’t just have fun with this one.

Opal item and Fate of Ophelia are good ones IMO.

I can’t tell them apart. It all sounds like regurgitated Sabrina Carpenter music.
When Taylor was promoting a modern twist on Ophelia’s fate, I hoped the heroine would come to her senses and gain some character strength and agency. Nope, a man has to swoop in and save her from drowning in melancholy, just like men drove her to drown in the original story. And not any man, but a dimwit whose main allure is his wood.
How dull.

Now do Father Figure where she talks about her big dick.

The woman found her person and bought her art back for 320 million bucks which she made from her 2 billion dollar tour based on her talent and hard work. May we all be so blessed.

Her financial success is not your success. A successful tour does not mean her newest material is amazing. Rolling Stones and U2 gross billions on tours and haven’t had a hit record in decades. She’s fallen off. An aging pop star milking her fans fan base.

That's cool but I was referring specifically to the critique of Fate.

But why Fate fool?

Because it’s hot trash

Swift was sophisticated when she was dating Euro boys, now she looks like a flyover rube.

This random photo on instagram is cooler than any photo of Taylor and Travis over their corny two year relationship.

This is right before martys fiance feeds people spagetti from her hands. Ts mocks it in her promo pic but i dont know how to attach a pic. She has her leg up like gabbriette and there"s a plate of spagetti on thr table with a fork. Her dress is similar to yhe one she wore on 1975 stage when she played antihero.

If this is actually a reference to the Charli photo of Gabriette, think how insane that is. It means Taylor is stalking not just Matty's social media but those of people in his circle, and becoming obsessed with what are probably minor and forgettable moments in their lives to the point that she feels the need to "mock" them in promotion for her own album. Really think about this. It is not the behavior of a mentally well person, and also reflects a strange fixation on her ex and his friends at a time when she is theoretically planning her own wedding and life with her current boyfriend/fiancé.

If someone I knew IRL did this, I'd stage an intervention. Girl, let him goooooooo.

If you really listened to ttpd, ypu would understand she cant. She went from singing about the loss of her life to singing about a guy's "vibes." Shrs trying, and im sure she likes travis amd gets along great with him and his friends. But her heart isnt in it and these songs make that clear. She is lying her ass off in wishlist AND wood.

I agree. I feel for her. What a mindf&ck for the pretty billionaire: you can have everything in the world except the one thing you wanted the most.
Can’t imagine Matt Healy has happily moved on either. He looks on the verge of a nervous breakdown in the videos his fiancée posts. A big departure from the starry eyed Taylor in Boston & Nashville and Matty in Manila.

I like swift and am enjoying this album but I just want to point out the insanity of comment. It's a "mind&ck" for a pretty billionaire to discover other people have free will? She can't force Matty Healy to marry her so we are supposed to feel bad for her? Uh, no. One of the reasons Taylor's heartbreak music is often so relatable is that this is one of the fundamental truths of humanity: you cannot makes someone love you the way you want them to love you, no matter who you are. They either do or they don't. It can be painful to realize but it can happen to anyone, including a "pretty billionaire."

Opalite lyrics sounds like she's anti-black people. The onyx nights giving way to opalite. Travis had black girlfriends and now is with a white girl (after trying to snag a black star, Meghan The Stallion). That's how it reads to me.

Not a fan of this MAGA album.

I think onyx is Matty Healy: his eye color, hair, the black clothes he wears. It’s giving “cinephile in black and white.” Their relationship was intense and tumultuous, hence the lyric about her dancing through “lightning strikes” and being sleepless. Then came the calm blue skies, the opalite. It’s a reference to Travis’ eye color and birth stone. It’s a man-made stone and a metaphor for “man-made happiness,” in her words, whatever that means. It sounds like she is trying hard to convince everyone, herself included.

I do not like Matty Healy and think Taylor's interest in him is disappointing, but I'm also not even a little convinced she's over him or that she feels for Travis with the same level of intensity.

I think with Travis she's "settling" for the guy who really, really likes her/needs her, on the theory he will be more loyal and committed. Which is probably true, and she's lucky to find a guy like that because not all women do. But I think their relationship will always be lopsided and he'll always be more interested in her than she is in him.

I know other women who have done similar and their relationships go the distance and seem to result in happy home lives. But in one case where the kids are now HS/college age, they are now getting a divorce. It's kind of like she locked him down to create the family and commitment she needed when she wanted to have kids, but now that her kids are grown she doesn't need him anymore and is moving on to more interesting, exciting men. No more golden retriever.

You are right, it really does. And the intro to Ruin the Friendship sounds like the into to When We Are Together by The 1975.

Hopefully, she'll pay for it later. $$$

The cover is weird/dumb and the songs are truly weirdo right wing. I like her older stuff much more. This album seems a bit forced in a way.

Yup. Forced and cringe and stealing material from younger pop stars. This is a flop no matter how many of her rabid fans buy multiple copies of the cassette CD vinyl and iTunes copy.

Is “fool” poster the new Flip Driscoll?

Flip Driscoll had substance and excellent points regarding ranch. Fool’s got nothing on Flip.

+1. Made made happiness = settling. Aka love the one who loves you back.
I am guessing it’s what her parents are pushing for. It’s pretty obvious her heart isn’t in it.

You’ve said the same thing in a couple threads. You have Taylor derangement syndrome. You seem to be obsessed. I spend no time on someone I don’t like but you just are in every thread about Taylor. It’s bizarre

Yes, she seems super miserable lately. She should most certainly stay in her tortured era because “intensity” somehow means true love. Kidding, obviously. Taylor said it best, you’re starving until you’re not. Travis is the real deal. She feels the most herself. The album is a good listen start to finish.

I guess after all these years, the blandness, lack of depth and inexplicable ( to some ) appeal of her music, people are finally waking up. Some day, music historians will struggle to explain why she was ever THIS famous.
The well of her perpetual teenage victim act is running dry.
