I can’t speak for all Independents, but while there is corruption everywhere, I find that Trump is more corrupt than both parties combined. Trump is in a league of his own and I think its terrible that the entire Republican party is backing his style and the inherent risk associated. I thought the same thing about Trump when he was a Democrat, which I am old enough to remember. |
So you’re a Democrat. |
+1000 Trump brought politics to a whole new level of awfulness. No one with at least half a brain will argue with that but let's not forget that Trump is a product of a two party political system that currently has two parties in states of weakness and dysfunction. We can and should get rid of that awful product asap but we'll still have the weakness and dysfunction that produced Trump to deal with. |
Well you need to consider their sources of information. Plus republicans really can’t afford to be concerned about corruption anyway. |
Kerry owned a baseball team? I just remember he mangled the names of the Red Sox players with 'Manny Ortez' and couldn't get the answer he was being set up for regarding Pedro Martinez(Bush started the war but you need to send me in as the closer). |
Most of the MAGA supporters I know don’t even know the ship is sinking and in fact think the ship is on a tremendous fantastic course. Bigly. |
I disagree. PP should borrow against his house and everything he loves to buy more Tesla. It's a sure win. ![]() |
Historic rains and flooding? It was a harsh winter. |
They convinced themselves for years any day now the economy would implode from the corrupt liberals so they’re relieved they’re finally right |
We can keep insisting that Trump is weak and that “everyone knows” he became a domestic terrorist insurrectionist on J6, but he’s been stronger than us for a decade, and our Jan6 hysteria seemed to turn independents away from US more than away from Trump. We may be right in our own minds but we’re nor right in the eyes of the voters. |
Source, please? |
Or they don't want to come to a fascist country. |
People who are not in power always think the people in power are corrupt. America has a huge anti government movement and that starts even before you get to the edge of the 13 original colonies. This isn't just the dems. It's a way of life hating government.
Targeted news has just made it all the worse. People like this have been brainwashed for generations that the dems don't know how to curb spending and only care about the urban voter. People keep telling the dems get behind what the majority thinks in some areas at least and pick a winning theme that represents the majority but they just keep picking minority issues so they start to identify with minorities more and more and the majority starts to feel like they aren't represented. The other reason Trump was elected is because he's more known. His main campaign promise this time is that he's going to get rid of the illegals and people are willing to let him do just about anything for that result. Last term it was abortion and he delivered. This time it's immigrants and it was Bidens failure that he didn't understand this or understand that the public didn't want to see the government grow after covid. |
You’re the low IQ fool. If Dems want to win elections, we need to look at all levers, including dropping unpopular policies. Your argument is that we don’t need to change anything because in an alternate universe we would have beaten Trump. You say that Biden and Harris, the two biggest vote getters BY FAR in Democratic Party history, were so much worse than our usual candidates that everything will just resolve itself with no need for introspection or change on our part. That’s a recipe for losing. Our job is not to explain away the 2024 loss to make ourselves feel better. Our job is to try to win in the future. The party of trans folk, illegal immigration, and restoring DEI is going to have an uphill battle with the voters if we don’t make any changes to our policies. Any sign of that changing? No. Your advice is to keep the unpopular policies but have the candidate be evasive about our policies. The process that produced the last 10 years of Democratic candidates is also going to have to change if we want better results. Any sign of change? Have the superdelegates and megadonors agreed to step back and hand things over to the voters? No. We’re also not going to have Trump to run against next time. You keep asserting that any Republican could have beaten us this time. That might make us feel better about our past loss, but it’s not great news for next time. Will our party turn out in huge numbers to stop someone who ISN’T Trump? If anti-Trump hate wasn’t enough for us to beat Trump himself, it probably won’t be enough for us to beat a better Republican candidate. Anything can happen, but refusing to consider the preferences of the voters is a way of handicapping ourselves. We’re not going to win with our old playbook and one hand tied behind our backs. We need to adjust. It’s low IQ to refuse to adjust. |
Yougov: “Nearly eight in 10 Democrats and Republicans believe that corruption is a very or somewhat serious problem among presidents from the opposing party, and similar shares say the same about members of Congress from the other party. Only around one-quarter say corruption is a serious problem among presidents from their own party, and around one-third say so about members of Congress from their party.” Our problem as upper middle class striver Democrats is that we assume that our partisan beliefs are just facts. Not only do we struggle to understand HOW anyone could disagree with our beliefs, we often aren’t even aware that they do! Shocking as it seems, most Republicans think Democrats are more corrupt than Trump and the Republicans. |
