This hurts more than it helps. No evidence is going to be overwhelming. But it's pretty clear that Trump is in cognitive decline, and no one who hasn't assessed him privately can tell if it's MCI (mild cognitive impairment), which is the step before dementia 1-3, or one of the dementia stages.

The reason it's hard to tell is that this patient already comes with very obvious narcissism, delusions of grandeur, probably ADHD and dyslexia: apparently he's never read well, hence his fixation on carrying about with him boxes of "important papers", because he wants people to think he reads important documents. His daily briefing in the White House was pared down from the usual dense text to color graphs and pictures, to hold his attention, and because his staff knew he would never read any text.

The main reason we know he's in cognitive decline is that his vocabulary, sentence structure and sentence completion have significantly declined over the years. They were in decline when he campaigned for the White House in 2016 compared to how he used to talk, and they have continued to decline, in a visible manner, since. That is the SOLE criteria we can impute directly and exclusively to cognitive decline.

The other factors that are usually related to cognitive decline, such as his emotional dysregulation, his obsession with adulation and petty revenge, his fixations on certain topics (windmills, cognitive tests, etc), his inability to empathize, his brazen lies... CANNOT be imputed to cognitive decline directly, as they could with any other patient, because he has always behaved that way, due to his existing personality disorder.

His father, a similarly unpleasant character, likely had a personality disorder, and then developed dementia. All these diagnoses have a genetic component, so it makes it more likely that Trump would be at higher risk.

Biden has always had a speech disorder, which impairs his word choice and pronunciation. He has shown a significant physical slow-down in recent years, which can be seen in his careful movements, slow speed and general appearance of frailty. His ad-hoc responses are less articulate than previously, and he too, has trouble with sentence structure and completion. However the complexities of his conversations are still at a cognitively high level, much more so than Trump's conversations, in that he is able, as before, to express understanding of several sides of every issue, memorize, list and explain possible actions, acknowledge there are no easy answers, and that global cooperation and diplomacy will always be required. Trump prefers not to offer solutions, but takes the easier option of attacking all his opponents instead, often by mocking attributes they cannot help, using teasing nicknames, and generally hitting below the belt. It's cognitively much easier to do, and makes for great MAGA entertainment. Biden is definitely in physical decline, but his cognitive state probably doesn't qualify for MCI, let alone any stage of dementia.

Trump always always projects onto others whatever is on his mind and is doing.

So. The more he talks about Biden being in cognitive decline, the more certain I am that Trump is.

In 2020, Biden did a lot of campaigning from his home in Delaware as a response to COVID and not wanting hordes of voters getting infected at his events (pre vaccine too, of course)

Biden was criticized as being "sleepy Joe" for this.

Meanwhile, in 2024...

So what is Trump's excuse?

Biden has been to every swing state twice already this year and I think the plan is for him to hit them at least once a month through the campaign.

Trump hasn't come close to that amount of campaign travel.

Trump probably just plans to riot again if he doesn’t win. No need for him to actually put forth any effort to earn votes.

He was talking about the auto industry if things continue down the path they are going.
But, you know that.

What path? The auto industry is actually doing well.

And he didn't limit it to the auto industry. But, you know that. You KNOW that.

Sure consumers are going to freaking love a 100 percent tariff on any foreign made cars. That should be fantastic for everyone.

This path....

So, you want pollution that causes asthma and ruins the environment?

I want a reliable form of transportation that will take me where I need to go.
EVs are nowhere close to that.

Let me guess, you learned about EVs 20 years ago and never bothered to update your info as the technology progressed?

I've been driving an EV since 2019 and there is barely any difference between an EV and ICE vehicle, even on long trips. There is absolutely no question that EVs are "a reliable form of transportation that will take people where they need to go" aside from minor fringe cases that only affect a miniscule percentage of consumers.

I live in a rural area with no EV chargers. Literally - none.
We have one person in a neighborhood of over 400 families that has an EV. They use it as their "back up car." Or, to do local errands.
To get to any significant shopping, I have to travel more than an hour.
I am not willing to invest $$ in a vehicle that will require a new battery costing half the price of the vehicle in 8 years.
I have lots of other reasons.... but suffice it to say, this country is NOWHERE ready to make the changes that Biden is pushing.

So don't get one. It's that simple. But there are cases where EVs make sense to those that choose them.

Horse and buggy users probably said similar things when the new fangled horseless carriages where introduced.

That is precisely my attitude. If you want an EV, and it fits your budget and your lifestyle, go for it.
It doesn't work for me.
And, that is why the regulations that Biden is pushing are ludicrous. There are likely more people like ME than those that are jumping on the EV bandwagon. And, he is making it so many of us will NOT have a choice in 8 years.

Exactly which regulations do you object to? Be specific.
Baden’s proposing making EVs cheaper and making charging stations more readily available. Hybrids are still an option if you don’t want an EV. I see nothing in the regulations that will hurt you, pp. And the air will be cleaner, so your health will be better, like it or not.

Spoken like someone who doesn't own one. I do and I love it so much. Takes me everywhere I need to go. We've even done long road trips with it, halfway across the country. But it's the every day going to work scenario that has me convinced I'll never go back to a combustion engine again. I can't even begin to say how awesome it is not to have to go to the gas station ever. Twice a week I "fill it up" overnight at home. And no oil changes. Also we had absolutely no issues with it over the winter when all the fossil fuel adherents were yammering about EVs being problematic. Not a single issue.

I didn't even want an EV. It was my spouse who pushed it and I resisted. So glad I relented.

Which ev do you have, pp?

I think there will absolutely be violence from Trump supporters if Trump does not win. I think the difference this time is that law enforcement/security apparatus won't give them the benefit of the doubt because they are white. Which is happened in 2020, and not just in DC.

It's money. Up until a few days ago, they weren't afraid of letting Trump show off his cognitive impairment in front of the entire world. Trump's entourage cannot keep him off the campaign trail - he loves the adulation! Only lack of money can keep him off.

Which is great. It means he's going stir-crazy, getting no in-person adulation, waiting for Letitia Monday. Give him as many cheeseburgers as he can stuff in his piehole and as much ketchup as he can throw at the wall. A quick ending before the election would be the simplest solution.

The last riot only worked as well as it did because Trump did nothing for 187 minutes. This time around the National Guard will be ready.
