Who is stomping on anyone? I'm more than happy for them. It isn't fair for the rest of the county which is the entire point of this post. No where in these posts did I degrade the teachers who are receiving things. It'd be nice if DCUM people could...read...with comprehension.

Life until fair. Wealthier schools will figure out other ways to get around your rule. Figure our a way to help the students at your school instead of taking away.

Per usual, a person not listening on DCUM. Some schools are PROHIBITED from asking for supplies. Meanwhile, other schools can. It's an MCPS thing. Maybe listen to the people who are telling you it's a problem before posting because you just look like a fool.

Then don't prohibit teachers from asking. Communicate eith wealthy pta some might help.

MCPS should mandate reporting of PTA and other external funding for schools, and use that info for budget planning. Parents are welcome to spend their money on their kids private education, but public schooling is not fee-for-service. Allocate the funds district wide or don't use the funds in the district.

So if a parent donates money to their school, you want the county to stop funding to that school and an equal amount? Wouldn’t that be like forcing a tuition payment?

When my kid was little, there was no tutor. It was me and a book at night, or a phone app/game.

Yes, there are special opportunities if you have all the money in the world. Yes, life isn't fair. But either play the lottery or go work 10x harder finding your kid resources. And it's not like it's difficult. MCPS is advertising weekend tutoring, afterschool tutoring, free programs all the time. If you're kid isn't doing them, don't blame the school, don't blame the teachers, or the other parents.

Point the finger at yourself, because expending all your energy whining on this website ain't gonna do much.

If you have time to post here, you have time to send an email to the free company organizing the tutoring to request tutors. Stop making excuses.

You can try to force PTAs to share resources, but people would just find alternatives.

Instead of donating to the PTA parents would just ask teachers and the PTA what they need. Then they would pay for it privately or set up something like a GoFundMe.

Our W elementary school had a Title I sister school that our PTA raised donations for. We realized some schools need extra help because of the difference in income. I also would register a Title I school in a neighborhood that I grew up for my Giant, Harris Teeter, and Safeway Education Rewards contribution.

You can legislate charity but PTAs can make requests.
