I am the PP...and I hear you. I disagree with you on what the OP is saying (I don't think they are saying that nobody can have anything if everyone can't) and I certainly don't think that the bar should be lowered. I do think that it is important to recognize that the inequities that we see in society are further revealed/exacerbated in public schools....the fact that some PTAs are flush with cash while others in the same district have nothing bears this out. |
| This sounds like if you can't have it then nobody should be able to have it. Lame. |
| Op your complaint has nothing to do with PTAs. Your complaint has to do with the American systems devaluing of education. |
+1 ours too in MoCo and I bought this was county-wide. |
There aren't enough big sisters to have little sisters. You can't have an ever farms school PTA supporting a farms PTA. |
There are very specific rules on what PTA's can pay for. However, if as a teacher you don't feel your PTA is doing enough, volunteer to be on the board and fundraise. Or, start a booster club/non-profit and fundraise. MCCPTA is very selective on what schools they welcome in and who they help. Don't count on them for much. |
Sounds like you have zero reading comprehension skills and only take from it what you want/understand. Very sad, but typical of this forum. |
+1 The new way of debating just seems to be throwing out canned phrases and degrading insults with no facts or arguments to back them up. |
Man that's depressing but I can see you're right. I'm that PP. |
| Teachers need all the help they can get. I would love to find a way to add to the deficient PTA resources rather than cap what PTAs/parents can give even further. |
You are better off buying directly for the teacher vs giving to pta. |
| If only we could find a way to keep wealthier families from supplementing their children’s education at home and over the summer, that would do wonders for promoting equity, too. |
Communist! |
The whole point of working hard and being successful is to give the best to your kids. The reason rich people like me have left MCPS for private us because of the anti-achievement Marxist attitude of people like you. |
| I reject your premise that everything should be fair. It never has been and never will. |
