The PG Pool is racist [MD]

They should revamp their waitlist and make it a requirement to not just put your name, phone and email, but list your race/ethnicity and your zip code. Send out a mass email telling everyone currently on the list to update their info on the wait list if they wish to remain on the waitlist. Then they can move all of the POC to the top of the list so that new memberships that open up go to POC, and also prioritize nearby zip codes. That's really the only way to get more diversity since with the current system they have no way of knowing anything at all about who they offer memberships to besides their names and contact info.

But you do understand how ridiculous that sounds, right? I'm am brown, global brown, and I'd never want to provide my race TO JOIN A POOL.

What if I'm the mom- white, but my partner is not white and my kids are half-white? Is that non-white enough to get in?

If you want to feign ignorance that’s your business. But when the topic is racism it makes you racist.

You're racist.
How?
You're racist for asking.

No. You are racist for pretending that the mountains of evidence of racism don’t exist. What’s the problem again? Hmmm…

What a pointless conversation. You either can't even identify any problem that currently exists. Or, if you can, you choose not to because it makes you feel better to sling insults. But, keep ranting. It's nothing if not entertaining.

I don't see a single mountain of evidence, much less multiple ones. (Yes, yes, I know, that makes me a racist too.)

Insults aside, if there are mountains of evidence, surely you can identify three specific pieces of it, right? Are you willing to do that?

Buddy, there are 25 pages of this thread telling you everything that you refuse to recognize. Wasting more effort to explain to someone intent on not listening isn’t worth the time. You’re a racist, just own it.

There is no mountain of evidence. The evidence is that the pool doesn't have "enough" non-white people. This is a lot of vitriol towards a business that suffers from the same cultural legacy as almost every other business in the united states. It's asking a lot of a swimming pool to heal that. It is a private business, so short of dismantaling capitalism, there's not much of a solution. (Personally, as a non-member, I don't see prioritizing non-white members as a viable solution. Are we going to start asking businesses to do that?)

Careful, your troll is showing. At first I thought you actually might be a woke white Mt. Rainier resident who thought they were truly “helping” their brown brothers and sisters, but you’re pretty obvious now.

I get you, but I can't think of any other way to get more diversity at the pool. What other solutions could there be?

You don’t get to appoint yourself the arbiter of facts here. Sorry. People have patiently explained to you over 27 pages now and it’s a testament to your white supremacy that you feel first that you get to decide and second that you get to refuse to acknowledge. Every Black person in America is familiar with people like you. I think it is good and important to know that you also exist at the PG Pool and it’s clear and well understood now why POC are not welcome beyond an amount that you are comfortable with or on specific days where you can stay away.

The choices are simple.

1. Acknowledge and fix the situation.

2. Keep denying it and continue to meltdown on DCUM as people rightly call you out.

Well, if your goal is to shut down this thread by attacking anyone who asks a question, it looks like you've succeeded. Perhaps someone more thoughtful will respond - though you've poisoned the well, so I doubt it.
