Chantilly High or Langley?

Reid is going to have power because she just got hired for substantially more than they were paying Brabrand because she supposedly was going to bring the magic “equity” sauce, so if they challenge or undermine her at first it will only make them look really bad. She will have quite a honeymoon with the Board, at least through the fall 2023 election.

This can't be a serious question.

So you can’t answer pp?

No, I can't answer the PP - which is exactly the point. There is no magical GPA or # of APs among the top 10-20% of kids at Langley, just as there isn't one at ANY school. It's an absurd question.

The county would first need to approve GF for sewer service. Like about 1/4 of the county, GF currently is not approved. Then the county would need to install sewer pipes throughout GF. Do you have any idea how much that would cost? Do you really think the county is going to appropriate funds to lay sewer pipes somewhere where most residents don’t want them (or are ambivalent)? That’s just throwing money down the drain. And here’s the kicker: Even if the county approved sewer and laid the pipes, the county cannot actually force anyone to connect to a sewer line.

Same goes with wells vs. public water (except that much of GF south of Georgetown Pike is on public water).

One Fairfax means relieving Great Falls from its primitive conditions and poor infrastructure.

Nah. The county doesn’t need to waste money and tear up the environment running sewer lines to GF. It’s not equity for government to give well off people more infrastructure when they actively choose to handle it themselves.

It's not equity to let one community function as a semi-private fiefdom while the rest of the county is required to function as one entity.

Paying someone every five years to pump sewage out of your backyard tank makes you a feudal lord.

Who knew?

As a feudal lord, I demand that someone tend to my vegetable garden. They may keep a cucumber for themselves at the end of harvest.

So true. Ours is in our front yard though. Maybe that makes me more special? /s

You can expect this to be the same at most of the FCPS high schools for the top 10%. GPA significantly over 4.0 and a large number of APs. Currently, max would be around 0-1 APs freshman year, 1-2 sophomore year, 4-7 junior year, 5-7 senior year. In theory, you could do around 17 APs total (probably a few can do more) but you don't need to do near that for top 10%. Most will do around 10-14 APs, with some outliers on the high end.

Thank you. This is helpful!

On the other hand I wouldn’t really want to live in Chantilly, I just don’t live the vibe there leaving aside the school. I feel like for 1.3 you’d have pretty good options in the Woodson, Madison or Oakton districts. I prefer those areas and I think there’s be plenty of smart kids and education oriented families.
. For that matter, I’d consider Robinson and Lake Braddock too. You can get a great house for that price and be in an UMC strata easily.

All you Langley haters… what do you think of recent US News ranking?
Langley is ranked way above locally and nationally compared to Chantilly.

There are 24,000 high schools in the country.

Langley and Chantilly both look like good options.

You sound like a child and I’m certain you are.

Richer kids = higher scores overall
