We just bought a house. And I just lost my job.

Just sucks.

So, sorry, OP. It does suck. I know it doesn’t help - but I am a true believer that things happen for a reason. Perhaps the reason is that you are destined for a better, more lucrative position. Start looking and hang in there.

It does suck. I'm really sorry.

Look on the bright side. You have to pay to live somewhere and at least you were able to qualify and get in BEFORE you lost your job. I know a few people who lost their jobs right before closing and the banks pulled out. You'll get something. Good luck!!!

Sorry. I lost my job last year and it was a scary, lousy feeling. I was really really aggressive about my job hunt and networking and it paid off quickly. Go get 'em!

Sorry OP. Wishing you the best of luck!

Happened to my sister. Actually the same day as her closing. She signed the papers anyway and I guess back in the day they didn't call fifty million times to make sure you were still employed. She ended up ok and you will too.

I'm sorry to hear this news.

In terms of the timing good thing it didn't happen before you closed on the house only to have your lender back out of the deal since you no longer have a job.

You will be alright! Everything happens for a reason.

I am positive that there are bigger and better things on the horizon.

It'll be OK.

It happened to us last year. Spouse lost his job 6 months after moving to new house, with 50% increase in our mortgage. He just started back working a year later. At least we are a two income family, so all worked out fine. And, I am still glad we moved. I will live with financial insecurtiy for many years to come, now, and would never have had the courage to move, if he lost the job earlier.

There are some jobs(restaurant jobs among others) you can get that earn enough to pay for mortgage and then some, but also leave you time to do some job search.

Sorry to hear, OP. Best of luck to you. I was out of work for almost a year after the financial crisis, and it totally sucked.

I'm very sorry, OP. I know that this must be scary, but things will work out.

This happened to a family friend. The husband lost his job the day of closing. He didn't find out until afterwards and a coworker of his called to let him know the fate of their department. They were ok in the end.

It will be OK. Now your full time job is to look for a job. Network like crazy. You can do it!
