When walking your dog, do you put bags of poop in other people's trash cans? Does it matter if they're full awaiting collection or empty awaiting return to the house?
I generally don't, but if I'm far from home will put a bag in someone's trash can if it's full and collection hasn't happened yet. Am I horribly rude? The bags are tied securely. |
| I don't have a dog but people put bags of dog poop in my trash. Our house backs on to the Whitehaven trail so there are a lot of dog walkers. There are special bins for dog poop which I'd rather were used, but I'd much rather find bags in my trash than my son finding poop in the grass where he plays. |
| there's a 15-page thread on this somewhere. |
| Do you really have to start this thread again? You don't get enough of people spewing their hatred for animals and animal owners? Please, spare us. |
Here is one, there may be others... http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/258229.page |
Yes you are horribly rude. Your dog's feces is your responsibility. Don't want to hold on to your dog's shit for a long time? Walk it closer to home or leave your dog at home. |
|
Don't dump your dog's poop in others trashcan's!
Some genius likes to put it in our recycling bin. Sometimes the bags fall to the bottom of the can and don't get picked up. Lovely summer aroma-not! |
Here we go. |
|
If my trash collectors dumped the whole bin into the truck I don't think I would care too much but mine just pull the bags out so they don't take the little bags of poop and I am left dealing with it.
So yes, it is rude. |
|
Someone did this to us, and our bin had already been emptied so it sat in there until the next pick-up.
That's gross, particularly in the summer. And I love dogs, I just don't want their poop stinking up my trash. |
|
I will never understand why some people think it's ok to make your problem, someone else's burden.
My trash is my problem. If I'm out and about and have trash, I hold on to it, or find a public trash can. I don't litter. I don't put my trash (dog shit or otherwise) in other people's trash cans. Your trash is your problem to deal with. If you don't want to hold on to it, why do you think other people are ok with it? |
|
Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Depends on the situation.
This is not what I'd call a real problem to get all worked about. |
So it's not a real problem if someone decides to randomly litter on your yard or egg your car or any of a number of small annoyances that can have the potential of creating a bigger mess? |
| I do if I the trash hasn't been picked up yet and I know that it will be picked up shortly. It's better than leaving the feces in the persons yard. |
Sure, but there are more than two options available to you. A third option is that you carry your bag of dog shit back to your house and dispose of it there. Our collectors pick up bags from the garbage. They miss the little bags, so the poop presents fall to the bottom where they sit until I deal with them. Putting our doggie bags in someone else's trash is rude. |
