Why is leaving it in the persons yard the only alternative to dumping in their trash?! Here's an idea, bring it back to your yard/trash to dispose of! People are so unbelievably rude. I have a dog who I take on 5 mile walks daily. Sometimes she takes a crap 1 or 2 miles in and I carry it on the rest of the walk and back home with me while pushing a stroller. Sure, it's a pain, but it's my dog's crap and my responsibility to deal with it. |
Your trash isn't already stinky in the summer? Some of you have weird obsessions with "clean" trashcans. Dog walkers: pick up your dog's poop. Put it in my trash can, which is already filled with TRASH. I don't care one bit as long as I don't have to step in your dog's poop in the woods, on the sidewalk, or in the park. |
I agree. I walk my dog daily as well, and if she poops while we are far from home I carry it home and throw it away. If I had to put my trash out and somebody threw their dog's crap in my trash can i would think it was rude, so I wouldn't do it to somebody else. |
| It's a damn trash can. Yes, I put dog poop in it, if it's out. |
| Yes, it is rude. Our trash collectors only grab large bags so it sits in our can and stinks. I don't want your dog poop in my trash cans. It is gross. Is it ok if I put loose bags of baby diapers in your can? |
|
Where are we supposed to place our trash cans? It's DC law that you must store you trash cans on your own property. But where may you place your cans for pick-up? I believe you must place your cans in front of your own property ONLY. Not on another street at the end of an alley.
Thanks for your help. |

It's totally rude. Don't do it.
Your dog's poop is your responsibility. |
| ? |
| I sometimes poop in those bags myself if I am on the go and need to go |
|
No.
Tiny bags like that typically will just follow to the bottom of the trashcan and fester. Nasty. I toss mine at bus stops or park trash cans instead. If that isn't an option, get a small lidded trashcan and line it with a trash bag or plastic bag. Put it outside with a deodorizer then put the bag in with your regular trash when you take it out. |

My garbage collectors don't pick up small bags of trash. Therefore your dog poop would stay in my trash can for days and I would have to pick it up and put it in a different bag. If I saw you dumping dog poop in my can, I would take it to your house for you (since you are too lazy to carry your own dog shit) and leave it all over your house.

| No, I've never tossed a bag of dog poop (or any other type of trash) into someone else's trashcan. I'm not saying that it should *never* be done or that it should be a huge big deal if it is done. But, in general, I think it's rude and presumptuous to toss your trash into another person's trashcan w/o their permission. |
Those small bags may be at the top but the way cans are dumped the small bags can shift to the bottom. I just spent time this AM at DD's hosing out a trash can where a passerby put a grocery plastic bag of shit that broke in the can. It's happened before. Then there was a bag of shit on top of the recycling and they didn't dump the can. |
| In DC trash bins are public property. |
