My husband is in Love with the name Orion. I am luke warm about it & still waiting for it to grow on me. I love the fact that it's original, but I think my son will spend most of his life correcting teachers, co-workers, etc. on how to pronounce it.
Orion (Or'rion) - like the Constellation, looks like the word Onion , and most ppl have saw it and thought it's pronounced Oreon.
What do you guys think about the name? |
| Don't like it. But I love Oren. Maybe that's a compromise? |
| No. I just think, no, no, no, no, you cannot do that to a child, and I am a fan of offbeat names in general. |
| How is it original? |
| I think it's cool. Anyone who can't pronounce it is an idiot. |
|
I like it!
Infinitely better than any name that ends in -den. |
| Orion is a well known constellation. I'm pretty sure most people know how to pronounce it. |
| I really hate it - Orion is the name of a movie studio and it sounds so 1980's! Please don't do that to an innocent child. |
| Orion sounds like you are trying too hard to be unique and different. A big NO. |
| I don't think any mother should name her child a name that "she's still waiting to grow on her." |
|
Reminds me of the movie - Men in Black.
If your last name is Belt - it would be hilarious! |
|
I love it. It was on our short list. I didn't like anything it could nickname into, though.
That said, we also had Sirius on our list. |
+1 |
| I think of Oreos. I would also assume you're black. |
| I know a little boy named Orion Skywalker. I still shake my head every time I see him. I recently had a friend in M&A consulting who was lamenting the names of candidates he was receiving resumes for - basically, the gist of the conversation was that there was no way he count hire someone named "Insert Atypical Odd Name" and have them work on the Carlyle Group account. It certainly gave me food for thought and helped knock a few names off our potential names list. |
