Why do people say beauty is a third-tier quality?

Anonymous
When people speak of personal beauty, it's frequently dismissed as a third-tier quality. For example, one may comment on a model being gorgeous, and then another will point out that "looks fade" or "what matters most is on the inside."

It seems like there's this rush to diminish the importance of personal beauty. But in life beauty can open many doors, professionally and personally. When my husband first saw me I guarantee he wasn't focused on my soul or brains. He thought I looked great, and now we've been happily married for almost 10 years.

No, Einstein, it's a backlash against the annoying tendency of the human race to treat those with personal beauty, as you call it, better than those who are considered less attractive.

I guess you lack in the brains dept.

It's obvious that appearances trump everything in our world.

So people do their best to balance it out.

And yes, you come off as really ditzy, OP!

OP-- you sound like an idiot. I'm hot--but I have a graduate degree in Molecular Biology. Looks May have for me noticed, but anyone worth keeping is looking for brains and humor too. DH is hot and HATES dumb women. He has very low tolerance for dumb.

There is always somebody younger and prettier.

If looks are all you have-- aging will be rougher than somebody that has other things as well.

Often times- a mistress isn't prettier. She's just a lot more interesting.

Because nobody earned their good looks. The ugly people think it's unfair that beautiful people enjoy such privilege for something they didn't work for.

Write back when he finds someone else more "interesting." Cause, sweetie, that's your future.

Unless, of course, he is just as vapid as she is. You know, Barbie and Ken, perfect together.

It's so true what you are saying OP, but no one wants to admit it.

Beauty is what really makes our world go around.

Take what we value...What makes us tick.

If a person is a talented singer w/the most spectacular voice on the planet, but they also had the ugliest facial features on the planet, then no one would pay a penny to buy their CD or see them sing in concert. Why? Because they have to also be easy on the eyes as well.

Same thing for actresses. Dancers. Now reality stars. Royalty. People want to see attractive people. When you see a commercial on T.V, an ad in a magazine or on a bus...It is ALWAYS w/pretty people.

Our eyes and our whole beings gravitate towards beauty. Not anything less.

Those that have beauty own the world.

Beauty trumps talent. And anything else one may have to offer.

Why is Kim Kardashian famous? Or Paris Hilton? Or Nicole Richie? Or any of those Real Housewives?? None of them can sing, act, dance or do anything in the talent dept. that any of us mere mortals can do, right?

They are famous and raking in the money because they are beautiful.

Enough said.
