Thinking about trying Ideal Protein Diet

Has anyone here used this diet? What are your thoughts?

Thanks

I've been on it for six weeks. I really like it and have lost just over 14 pounds, I'm about half way to my goal. I plan on keeping a lower carb diet once I phase off plan.

It will cost $21 a day for food (there is a start up fee). I suggest that you attend an informational session to determine if it's right for you. FWIW, I didn't receive any pressure to sign up at the session. You attend are free to leave without pressure or harassment. They understand that it's a decision that takes time to make.

Also, it cost is an issue, there are alternative products you can buy on your own that will be similar to IP. There is a nice forum on 3fatchicks.com that is dedicated to IP and has a ton of information on both the official plan and alternate plans.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Food is $12 per day.

DH is doing it. It takes an incredible amount of willpower since it is so restrictive, but he has had great results (down 50lbs since Jan.)

I did it, lost 12 lbs right away, loved it, gained it back, now going back to it though being less restrictive. Learned tons of good habits, most of which was to cut out flour and sugar.

What do you mean less restrictive. Also, did the weight come back right away?

I have several friends who did this recently, but one one was actually overweight. I am curious about whether they will keep it off.

Have they changed their eating habits?

I feel like I have changed my habits. I have no interest in potatoes, pizza or sweets. I'm perfectly happy with lean protein and I'm craving different vegetables. I had a sip of root beer the other day and found it to be far too sweet & syrupy.

I have a friend who did it over this previous fall/winter, and has pretty much gained it all back. I think she had lost about 20 lbs.

Two finished (the ones who were in normal weight range) and are in maintenance. They are strict about going back to Phase 1 after the cheat day. and not combining fat and carbs. The other two are still in phases 1 and 2.
