Any food, recipes, diet ideas? |
What does he eat and drink now, when does he eat it? |
Eliminate (or cut way back on) refined carbohydrates and sugar. Increase vegetable consumption. Don't worry about eating meat and fat.

May be a good candidate for Every Other Day Diet (EODD), sometimes called Up Day Down Day (JUDDD) or alternate day fast (ADF). I've used it to take off a few stubborn pounds and then maintain. Love it because it doesn't seem like a "diet" to me. Every other day I can eat literally whatever I want. Wings, cheesecake, whatever. But on alternate days I eat very light - recommended intake ~500 calories for the day.
There have been some books and studies about it. Does not ruin your metabolism or have any known negative health consequences but not advised for anyone who may be prone to eating disorders (for obvious reasons). For the first couple weeks I ate much worse than usual on my "feast days" - nachos, etc. but actually now I don't even crave it much anymore. And on your fast day you just mentally say - "tomorrow, I am going to Sweetfrog/Wendy's/Potbelly/Krispy Kreme" -- and you can. All fits within the plan/"diet." |
If he drinks, stop. |
Cut soda (diet included), fancy coffee drinks, alcohol. Limit red meat. More vegetables and fruit.
I'm not going to say eat less, move more because that's just not true for a lot of us, myself included, but those changes can mean a lot. |
No carbs. Atkins is great for guys bc portions dont matter |
the Paleo diet can help him....all the meat you want! |
Calories in versus calories out. It's not that difficult. Start tracking otherwise you will never get a handle on your calories in per day. |
DH here.
Losing weight is not easy. The ONLY way to do it is if you truly want to do it. You don't need to be looking for recipes: you need to find a way for him to realize that he needs to lose weight. Nothing else is more important. |
Does he exercise ? |
weight watchers is fantastic |
My DH just lost about 25 lbs by making healthier choices. I've been asking him to for years because I'm worried about his health but he decided to do it for himself after he got some scary blood test results. He just tries to make the healthiest choices he can for each meal. He's cut way down on refined carbs and increased fruits and vegetables. He also eats more often. He used to eat 2 huge meals for lunch and dinner. He has to plan ahead instead do just choosing what to eat on a whim but he doesn't feel deprived and nothing's off limits. I think if he felt deprived in any way he wouldn't stick with it but he's really proud of himself for taking steps in the right direction. |
