Viking/ Wolf stove: double ovens?

Anonymous
We're redoing our kitchen and are going to go with either a Viking or Wolf stove. We're stuck between a few options. Should we get the stove tops with ovens underneath? Or should we just get the stove top and then have double wall ovens somewhere else?

We like the look of the oven/stove together, but would we miss having double ovens? What do people normally do?
Thanks!

we have a double with the stove on top and it is great. you do not need two huge ovens, we find we never use the larger one except for thanksgiving or a large roast

We've looked at the ones with double ovens, but they are just a bit too big for our kitchen.

So you don't think it's a bad thing not to have double ovens?

OP, we are building a house right now and I was in your exact same shoes. To be honest, I really wanted the double wall ovens (instead of under the stove) because right now I have drawers under my stove and LOVE it. Unfortunately with the layout of the new kitchen, it just wasn't going to work without losing counter space. So, I am going with the double oven under the stove too.

I think for re-sale, the double ovens are key. Also, I do like to cook so I anticipate using both ovens.

ours is a normal size range not any bigger than the traditional size

There are 30 inch stoves that have double ovens (standard size).

Think about how you cook and will use them. We went with a double oven over the wall ovens as we didn't need two large ovens to cook with. And, the smaller oven heats up quickly.

Here's a hint: don't do what you think to be "on trend". You will be far happier one or two years down the road, once you find out what really would have worked.

That's why I'm asking you all what works! Not too concerned about trends, but rather usability. We've never had double ovens, but grew up with them. We both cook a lot, but don't do as much baking.

We entertain a lot and that's when our double oven is useful. Almost every week we're using both. We have cabinet storage underneath our stove. That's where we keep all our pots/pans.

We have a wolf range and a separate wolf microwave, oven, warming drawer combo. I like that combo and we use the warming drawer quite a bit. The microwave is convection so theoretically we could use it for some things we would otherwise do in the oven but frankly we have never had a need for a second oven and we cook a lot. There is enough space over the oven tower for a vertical tray cabinet which is also super useful.

This is what I have also. I tend to use the convection (wall) oven more often than the gas one in the range, but there are a few times a month I use both ovens.

Our range is just a range, no oven (there are drawers below it for pots). So we have just one oven.

OP it might depend on your cooking style - we entertain quite a bit but I guess use the stovetop or the grill more than the oven. Sounds like others do more baking.

For thanksgiving we do baking before the turkey goes in, and then any last minute oven uses after the turkey comes out. The warming drawer also comes in handy.

I have a huge all in one range and oven (is this a stove - can never figure out what is the right term!) - small oven next to a big oven, which is large enough to hold two baking sheets. If you can do it, then do it (underneath or in the wall). I basically never have to worry about "scheduling" my baking, cooking, roasting, etc. If I were able to renovate, then I might go for the wall ovens, but like what I have now.

We went with the 36" Viking professional all gas oven with 6 burners and did a wall oven with a microwave with matching trim kit to the wall oven (looks like one piece). I love it! The microwave and the wall oven are at a great height to reach in. I do use both ovens, not a lot, but is great when I need it!
