Does anyone have this new app? I heard that there are now 500K books in the library. It is 9.99 per month. I would love to get it but I only have a tiny ipod touch or a Kindle...and I'm not sure there is a Kindle version yet (plus Jeff Bezos tends to disallow any app that discourages people from buying amazon products.)
I am tempted to buy an ipad just for this app. If I do get an ipad in order to read books and magazines online, what size should I get? I want a smaller one so I can hold it easily in bed, but I also want to be able to see the books and magazines. |

I'm curious, too. I've also heard about a very similar service called Scribd. I'd love to hear if anybody has tried these!
Here are some online comparisons of Oyster and Scribd, and Google turns up many more comparisons if you really want to get into this: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2013/10/23/1249710/-eBooks-Oyster-or-Scribd-Who-Will-Become-the-Netflix-of-eBooks http://allthingsd.com/20131031/new-e-book-services-borrow-a-page-from-netflix/ |
I like the iPad mini, which is slightly bigger than my Nook and, from what I've seen, a little bigger than the Kindle. A word of warning: I find that looking at the iPad screen right before bed keeps me awake, so I use the Nook "glow" function to read right before bed. YMMV. |
It's the blue part of the light spectrum that computer screens use. It stimulates a certain part of the brain and makes it difficult to fall asleep. MRIs have shown this. |
| Do they have audio books? |

I tried it a while back and wasn't happy. They didn't have books I wanted to read. I wonder if it's changed?
btw this is my dream app. I read sooo much, hate the libraries here, don't want to keep buying books constantly or deal with the clutter of books. |
