I think the fact that she signed up for this suggests the Eton theory is wrong. Like someone 100 pages back stated, she seems like she was build in a lab for this life. No way would she throw such a public fit about something totally expected, no matter how displeased she was about it.

And she didn’t have a little boy of her own then or realize the potential abuses at a boarding school.

She had issues at boarding school herself. So, not naive.

She has no leverage if he wants her out. The tone of her coverage has markedly changed, not a coincidence. He has stopped referring to her at appearances. He has used his solo letterhead. She was thrown under the bus re: the photo that in all likelihood was a set up. She had nothing to do with it and likely does not have access to their social media accounts. It was a dig at her prior competent/asset image and a dig at the hobby she is well known for. Stories painting her as volatile and throwing things started to run last year, portraying them as "equally bad."

Whether it is about a 3rd party or not remains to be seen. He is not even faking being a doting, protective husband at this point.

If there are differences over the kids going forward, he holds the trump cards, especially as her family's wealth has tanked.

All the cries that they can't get divorced when CHARLES is divorced as silly.

This is my line of thinking. As most marital arguments, it's just a symptom of a bigger issue. In this case they aren't on the same page anymore. They had an easy way out by just admitting it was mistake from their staff office. Putting it on Kate sent a nasty message.

My sense is that Charles was kinder and more deferential to Diana re: the children than William will be (in part due to trauma/damage from Diana's mental illness during his childhood, William is not going to share power this round). It's more than the marriage seeming broken, it's that the "machine" is now tarnishing her image actively, despite it being a time when the opposite would be expected by the public out of basic decency while they are claiming she is quite "ill." In fact, she may be.

It's pretty extraordinary, but if you look back there have been more negative stories placed about her for a year or so, very "both sides" (linked upthread or Google) but now she is "unstable" etc. and "wanting out" when she may be being pushed out. She has no power in the situation that I can see. William's lifelong anger may have found a new target. He seems unwilling to just live apart and fake it for PR anymore.

It seems like William and KP's handling Katw was a big shock for a lot of royal journalists too. As someone (maybe you?) said there's been a noticeable shift in the narrative considering Kate now. They aren't looking out for her and now okay with actively harming her image. Not collaborating might be the only way she's able to hold some control.

I think it is most likely that the photogate was a set up as part of the media campaign to damage her image, along with the solo letterhead and not mentioning her at events anymore. It makes William look callous and cold, but they must not care or feel a plot twist yet to come will vindicate his approach?

This theory is one of the two that make sense to me. She’s deliberately not cooperating with whatever messaging KP is trying to make, as it’s her only leverage. And she knows she needs leverage or she’ll get screwed on accessing and influencing her kids - the only reason Diana is seen with sympathy is because she died dramatically and tragically.


I also understand why William would want a divorce, but I also don’t understand how he could be stupid enough to think it would be at all good for his image and popularity. But I might be underestimating his stupidity and ego…


The other theory that makes the most sense to me is that there isn’t anything more nefarious than usual (he’s a jerk, she’s a vain PITA), but they are so clueless, self-centered, and egotistical that they actually believe the whole “anointed by god” thing and can’t fathom how this looks bad for them.

I think Kate is the only royal who isn't clueless about image. She's the only one who really had to work to be in the position she's in. I also think she, like many Brits, is a genuine believer in the importance of the royal family (have you ever spoken with an English royalist? As an American I truly cannot understand the off-the-charts patriotism of everyday commoners). I don't think she would intentionally screw up their image. She is choosing to not go out of her way to make it better because she's screwed no matter what she does. William is one minor medical issue away from being King, he can get what he wants, and might not be totally unreasonable in thinking that royalists are going to remain loyal to him no matter what he does to Kate.

Fwiw, I think this is a big issue in this country between those who are off-the-charts patriotic and those who downplay or dismiss or criticize all-the-time. The parents who complain about the negativity towards the country in schools? What do you think they mean?

I think she had a cosmetic procedure to shrink her stomach to ensure she’s fit and never overweight. I believe they are also divorcing but the two are not in any way connected (surgery and divorce) . I believe the surgery was planned but the divorce was not. They just fell into the same timing.

Soo bizarre!!! There's a thread below that involve Meghan/Harry. This situation has nothing to do with them.

It has lots to do with them as per article references above the Meghan and Harry fan accounts were the ones who posted the most sordid conspiracy theories .

There’s been a royal fan war before this all happened between the Kate/Will royal fans and Meghan/Harry royal fans.

Also, the UK tabloids are part of the royal Rota (inside circle of royal media outlets) and they excoriated Megan with the Palaces blessing or feeding stories and now that Will and Kate are going through mess and Kensington Palace is being accused of faking a photo, people are wondering how much else they faked (in regard to leaking fake stories about Meghan) and how much this had to do with the Will vs Harry physical fight and fallout.

In addition, the Mirror changed the name of Kate to Harry in a tabloid article posted last month that said Will and Kate are unstable and fight alot and have severe mood swings. The original title said Will and Kate and was linked to a 2022 Daily Mail story about their domestic rows , but the 2022 Daily Mail story has disappeared and the Mirror article now says its Will and Harry that fight bitterly .

All of these changes happening from an article from last month, and knowing what we know about the royal rota and how tabloids are on the Royal Family’s call log and inner web is important.

I don’t think people that are new to this web understand that all the British tabloids are embedded in the royal family media engagement strategy

I think she had a cosmetic procedure to shrink her stomach to ensure she’s fit and never overweight. I believe they are also divorcing but the two are not in any way connected (surgery and divorce) . I believe the surgery was planned but the divorce was not. They just fell into the same timing.

What do you mean the divorce wasn’t planned? Do you think W just woke up one day and decided to divorce K?
