I love getting pulled into long series of books with fantastic settings/premises. I've read everything from Harry potter to the outlander series. However, I really hate things based on the traditional fantasy constructs of dwarves, elves, dragons, useless maidens needing to be rescued, etc.
I'm looking for one or two series to fill my summer. Suggestions? |

Game of Thrones is a natural.
Daughters of Lear. If you like urban fantasy with smart, strong women read Charles de Lint. |
| Jack Vance - Lyonesse trilogy. |
| Malazan Book of the Fallen Series. I think that my DH is reading this series and really liking them. These books are tomes like Game of Thrones. |
|
The Wheel of Time series will keep you busy for a while.
|
| Patrick Rothfuss' Kingkiller trilogy (the third book hasn't been released yet) |
| If you like YA fiction, The Hunger Games trilogy and the Divergent trilogy |
A Wrinkle in Time?
