Do you still write checks for anything?
I haven't written a check in years. I pay all my bills on-line. On the rare occasion that I need to pay something that cannot be paid on-line or with cash, I buy a money order... that happens maybe twice a year. |
| We pay all bills online, but I pay for a lot of school stuff via check. After school classes, yearbook order, school pictures. I also had a write a check for our babysitter last night because I forgot to get cash! |
| Your questions are amazing. Do you get paid for this? |
|
Wrote three today.
2 to the school. 1 to the plumber. |
| 90% of my checks go to friends and family. We write checks for weddings, graduations, baptisms, dog walker and baby sitter. I do online bill paying! |
|
I rarely use checks, but having a checkbook in a drawer is far less annoying than having to go get a money order! Yikes.
I love online bill pay, but it doesn't work for everything. |
Same here. Also house contractors like pp mentioned (plumber, landscaper etc) although if the job is over 500 I will ask if they take credit in order to earn points! I always have a checkbook in the house but rarely in my purse. |

Yep, the majority of my checks are for school.
And just had to draw two big ones for quarterly estimated tax payments, grumble. |
| I pay rent with checks. I would just have the bank send them, but I include my water bill with it and that varies slightly month to month. It's easier to write the check and walk to the office than log on and change the amount and set the pay date. |
| I try to pay the bigger stuff online, but I wind up paying school stuff and a few random other things (ballet, sitters, etc) by check. |
| I only use checks for gifts or for fees that are somehow difficult to pay online - like ordering a transcript from my university was easier to do via mail than trying to remember and reset my online account from years ago! |
|
School enrichment classes, housekeeper plus a few other random things. Maybe 3 checks per month.
I don't get the money order thing. Seems like a hassle when you could keep a small checkbook at home. |
| I write checks for my utilities, school stuff, gifts, etc. I don't like autopay because I want to see the bill and actively pay it rather than just assuming it's fine. |
|
I pay rent with checks and will write the occasional one to school or for a medical bill that comes in the mail or something.
I accept checks only in my small business, and the amounts I collect are usually between $250 and $1,000. No one has had a problem with this, but a few have asked if I take cards or Paypal. I usually allow them to pay with Paypal but I hate it because it takes a cut if they pay with a credit card. |
| I write about 10-15/month. Our weekly housecleaner accounts for 4. I also use checks for one time doctor bills that it isn't worth entering into electronic bill pay. School stuff is about 1 per month for various things. |
