Any feedback about this school's AAP program ? They just became AAP center starting 2013-2014.
Thanks in advance. |

our friends are complain of AAP in Westbriar.
compare to other school ...not really AAP she will move to Luise El |
Good. Maybe if enough people feel that way Westbriar can go back to being regular neighborhood school. |
I feel the same way about our school. It's a center and definitely has lost any neighborhood or community feel. Such a shame what centers have done to what should be community schools. |
It's the increasing population of FCPS, pure and simple. See slide 22. http://www.fcps.edu/fs/budget/documents/advertised/2015/FY15AdvertisedBudgetPresentation.pdf |
| The increasing population may be an excuse to turn more schools into centers, but it's not driving these decisions. |
Does your friend's child have a choice to go to LA given that Westbriar is now an AAP center? I thought you had a choice of local level IV (if offered) or your center. |
Are you saying you prefer Westbriar to be neighborhood school than AAP center? |
| Any idea how the PTA at Westbriar is? Do they have good after-school PTA programs for kids? |
That's exactly what I'm saying. There was no need to turn it into an AAP center. Just a lot of hubris on the part of school admin and some parents. |
they're adding more. but it isn't LA or Haycock by a longshot. Actually even Lemon Road has more afterschool programs. I suspect it will catch up in time. |

| Schools are made into AAP Centers at the request of the community. |
| I remember before the change was made, many parents there were excited about an AAP center to bring in more resources and not have to send their children to an overcrowded school for AAP, but now are realizing it also means many children coming in from all over Vienna. |
