There is lots of talk about people moving to moco if these boundary proposals happen, but why is nobody talking about moving to Virginia? That was actually our first reaction bc I keep hearing the negatives about moco schools. |
Because there are negatives with VA schools, too, particularly with Alexandria City and Fairfax County. |
What's wrong with FFX county schools? |
Boundaries change more frequently than presidents in NoVa. |
I just have no desire to live in VA. Would much prefer MoCo. |
No desire to love in a state that's politically in the dark ages. |
This. Arlington county doesn't have its own state government and case law |
We are planning to move to N Arlington if DC schools don't work out. Both for the vibe (bethesda too fancy for us), the commute, and the better state university system. Am I happy about living in the land of men in brown flip flops? No. But I will do it if I have to. |
Clueless much? For one, NoVa is decidedly blue, not red. With respect to schools however, I agree that VA isn't the Shangrila some are hoping for (including MoCo). Class size has swelled and in Fairfax, teacher salary has shrunk. We have a nationwide crisis with waiting for Superman. Not just in DC Proper. |
+1 million or so. Please keep out. It's terrible here. |
DC people are 90-plus percent Democrats, would like a similar situation. My gut feeling is sense of similarity. |
Liberals outnumber Republicans in Fairfax County, for those that are not familiar with that. |
One word - Richmond. Mandatory ultrasounds, laws that actually prohibit gay couples from giving each other power of attorney, terrible traffic due to Republican planning aversion, legislators who want to require women to report miscarriages to police, guns in Starbucks, shortest death penalty appeal process in the nation etc. I don't even shop in VA in order to avoid giving those misogynists a dime of tax money. |
Yup. |
VA is against everything I believe in. |
